Actress Colby Minifie, known for her role as Ashley Barrett in “The Boys,” shares her feelings upon reading the script for the series finale. In the final moments of season 4, Ashley is depicted injecting herself with Compound V as a way to safeguard herself from Homelander’s (Antony Starr) aggression. As the Prime Video universe broadens with spinoffs like “Gen V” and “Vought Rising,” season 5 will serve as the conclusion for the original series.
In an interview with Brandon Zachary from ScreenRant for her latest film “The Surrender”, Minifie expresses that the script for The Boys series finale was “incredibly fulfilling” and left her feeling emotional as she read it. She talks about how, even though the show presents extreme situations, it accurately portrays the frustration and fear one might experience while working under a “tyrannical boss” like Homelander. Additionally, Minifie explains that her character’s journey in “The Surrender” is rooted in real-life experiences. Here are some of her insights:
Last night, I finished watching the final episode. It was incredibly fulfilling. To put it simply, it was incredibly satisfying. Reading it brought tears to my eyes. For a story like this to resonate with us, as we’ve been discussing, it needs to feel authentic and relatable. Absolutely! I have a demanding boss who often drives me up the wall. In The Surrender, I’m grappling with issues concerning my mother. She’s desperate to resurrect our deceased father, and her grief is palpable. These emotions feel genuine, and they open up a whole world for us to explore.
What This Means For The Boys Season 5
Ashley May Directly Confront Homelander In The Series Finale
Minifie’s remarks indicate a positive outlook that the final chapter of ‘The Boys’ won’t fall short and will effectively wrap up the tales of Ashley and Homelander in an satisfying manner. It appears that Ashley has been covertly defying Homelander, starting from keeping him unaware about Maeve’s survival at the end of season 3 or disclosing A-Train’s treachery. Yet, she hasn’t openly challenged him and instead, continues to yield to his potentially harmful impulses.
In the fifth season of The Boys, a powerful scene might involve Ashley boldly challenging Homelander. This confrontation could potentially lead to her demise, but it would be gratifying to witness Ashley making a stand and meeting her end with dignity preserved. After receiving Compound V injections, Ashley will possess superpowers during season 5; however, they won’t match up to Homelander’s might. No matter the outcome for Ashley, it is reasonable for actress Erin Moriarty (Minifie) to feel emotional given her significant contribution to the series since its debut in season 1.
Our Take On Colby Minifie’s Comments
The Boys Will End On A Strong Note
The fifth season of “The Boys” marks its end, meaning there are numerous character developments and plotlines to wrap up in the final episodes. Minifie’s remarks give me assurance that despite any spinoffs, the main series will conclude satisfactorily for both the characters and the overall storyline. I hope this resolution includes some form of redemption for Ashley, following her actions in season 3 and interactions with A-Train in season 4. At least, it’s comforting to know that Minifie feels the finale will be a fitting conclusion for “The Boys.
