Similar to many earlier point-and-click adventure games, the original Syberia utilized pre-made backdrops for player exploration. In contrast, the remastered version of Syberia offers real-time environments, enabling features such as changing light and shadow effects.
In certain spots, there’s a light mist appearing next to mirrored surfaces (it’s unclear if ray tracing technology is available). The revamped textures are pleasingly intricate, enhancing characters such as Oscar, the automaton, who remains stylish as ever. Naturally, the movements of the main character, Kate Walker, appear smooth too.
As a gamer, I’m excited about the remaster, as it brings numerous enhancements tailored for gameplay. You can expect smoother controls, revamped user interface, and puzzles that are more intuitive to solve. While I haven’t seen much footage yet, from what I’ve glimpsed so far, it appears to be a loyal reinterpretation of Benoît Sokal’s timeless classic.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, the remastered version of Syberia will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. Keep an eye out for further updates as we approach the launch date.
