Emma Watson Stuns in Comeback at 2025 Cannes Film Festival After 12-Year Hiatus!

Emma Watson is returning to the spotlight.

In 2025, the actress from Harry Potter films graced the Cannes Film Festival once more following a 12-year hiatus, exhibiting her elegant festival attire upon landing at Nice Airport on May 20th.

Emma stepped off the plane wearing a floral skirt, a black sweater, dark glasses, and black flats. Later on at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, she switched to a different spring outfit: a sleeveless red and white checkered dress and boots. To shield her eyes from the Parisian sun, Emma accessorized with a pair of aviator-style sunglasses.

In her final performance at the festival back in 2013, Emma showcased her fashion flair with designs by Louis Vuitton and Chanel while endorsing Sofia Coppola’s movie titled “The Bling Ring”. Since then, apart from sporadic film roles such as in “Little Women” (2019), Emma, who is in a relationship with Kieran Brown, has kept a low profile while pursuing her master’s degree in literature at Oxford University.

Before her visit to Cannes, Emma was seen during the Valentine’s Day weekend at the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Oakland, California. A video taken by ESPN’s TikTok account showed the actress from “Circle” looking casual in a black ensemble and blowing a kiss to the camera.

Emma, who completed her education at Brown University in 2014, unequivocally conveyed her contentment with stepping away from the public eye and acting following several years of being in the limelight. (Or: Emma, a graduate of Brown University in 2014, openly expressed that she’s satisfied with her choice to retreat from the public spotlight and acting after spending many years there.)

She shared with British Vogue in 2023 that she was granted a prime viewing spot alongside some exceptionally accomplished, attractive, and remarkable individuals worldwide. She went on to say that having this vantage point made it abundantly clear that no level of success would bring genuine happiness or contentment if one doesn’t appreciate themselves or find joy in what they do when nobody is watching.
