Two distinct characters in “A Minecraft Movie” are undeniably its standout features and should without a doubt make an appearance in any potential sequel. Although no official confirmation has been made, it seems likely that there will be a sequel to “A Minecraft Movie.” Despite varying opinions on the film, as evidenced by Mae Abdulbaki’s 4 out of 10 score at Ebaster, the movie adaptation of the video game has proven to be a financial powerhouse. As of now, the film has earned $930 million globally (as reported by Box Office Mojo).
Due to the blockbuster success of the movie, it’s only logical for a second installment to follow suit. Fortunately, the finale of “A Minecraft Movie” leaves ample room for another chapter. Although Jack Black’s character Steve ends up back in reality, he promptly encounters Alex, another beloved character from the game. This implies that they might revisit the Overworld together, potentially along with other characters from “A Minecraft Movie“. Regardless of the sequel’s plot, it’s evident that Jack Black and Jason Momoa should reprise their roles in “A Minecraft Movie 2“.
Jack Black & Jason Momoa’s Comedy Was My Favorite Part Of A Minecraft Movie
Black & Momoa Are A Hilarious Duo In A Minecraft Movie
Despite being an avid fan of the video game, I didn’t find myself completely enamored with “A Minecraft Movie“. Yet, I must acknowledge that there were several humorous instances throughout the film. Among these, the scenes featuring Black and Momoa were particularly funny. In this movie, Black portrayed Steve while Momoa played Garrett. Although their characters have conflicts at times within the film, the chemistry between Black and Momoa is palpable and deserves to be developed further in a potential sequel.
It’s no secret that Black is often hailed as one of the funniest actors out there, so it wasn’t exactly unexpected that he would excel in his comedic role. Yet, I was genuinely impressed by Momoa’s performance as the immature Garrett in “A Minecraft Movie“. Not only do they both deliver side-splitting dialogue, but their physical humor is also spot-on. For instance, the scene where Steve rides on Garrett’s back while flying through the air, and they have to contort their bodies into an awkward position to squeeze through a tight hole, had me in stitches.
A Minecraft Movie’s Ending Sets Up Jack Black & Jason Momoa Remaining The Franchise’s Dynamic Duo
Steve & Garrett Become Great Friends In A Minecraft Movie
Besides the previously mentioned sequence, Black and Momoa clearly take center stage in the “Chicken Jockey Scene” from “A Minecraft Movie”. The battle between Garrett and the Chicken Jockey is arguably the most popular scene from “A Minecraft Movie”, further demonstrating the film’s excellent use of physical humor. Fortunately, the ending of “A Minecraft Movie” hints at both Steve and Garrett’s return in the sequel, sharing the screen once more.
After Garrett and Steve go back to the Overworld, they decide to establish a video game store jointly, hinting at their enduring friendship. Since the post-credits scene of ‘A Minecraft Movie’ suggests that Steve is returning to the Overworld, it seems logical for Garret to revisit the block-filled realm too. The duo, Black and Momoa, displayed an excellent rapport during interviews for ‘A Minecraft Movie’. This camaraderie bodes well for future collaborations in the sequel, as they both seem keen on working together again.
A Minecraft Movie’s Sequel Would Be Smart To Lean Into Black & Momoa’s Chemistry
A Minecraft Movie’s Sequel Shouldn’t Split Steve & Garret Up
In the upcoming sequel of “A Minecraft Movie,” it’s expected that characters like Alex will play significant roles. The introduction of Alex in the sequel is thrilling, but I fervently hope this doesn’t compromise the chemistry between Black and Momoa. Instead, I eagerly anticipate that the sequel will capitalize on the chemistry between these two characters. Consequently, after they captivated audiences in “A Minecraft Movie,” I can’t wait to see Steve and Garrett embark on another exciting journey across the Overworld in the sequel.
