For a while now, Krafton’s PUBG: Battlegrounds has held a leading position on Steam’s list of games with the most concurrent players. Released in 2017, this Battle Royale survival shooter has maintained a devoted fanbase, but it hasn’t been without its problems. As a free-to-play game, PUBG: Battlegrounds is accessible to many newcomers, yet this also attracts some players who may not have the best intentions. However, the creators of PUBG: Battlegrounds are now taking steps to address cheating by implementing stricter anti-cheat measures.
On May 21st, PUBG: Battlegrounds publicly revealed their fresh approach to dealing with cheating. Recognizing player discontent over the “problem of unauthorized software usage” and “inadequacies in our handling of it,” they are now taking action to improve the situation. Notably, the game’s Steam reviews have slipped into the Mixed category due to numerous complaints about widespread cheating in 2025. Now, Krafton is tackling these concerns head-on with their new strategies to combat cheating more effectively.
As an avid gamer, I’ve noticed some changes in the way our community is handling suspicious activity within the game. We’ve stepped up our penalty standards, thoroughly examining accounts flagged for questionable in-game behavior. To ensure a fair and consistent gaming environment, we’ve refined our operational practices when it comes to investigating and addressing cheating. This has led us to conduct a comprehensive review of our updated policies, putting them into practice effectively.
Krafton recently announced that from May 15th to 18th, they blocked over 210,000 gaming accounts associated with unauthorized software, due to their initial assessment using the enhanced standards. Additionally, they plan to implement a revamped system of operational improvements in PUBG: Battlegrounds, which will include a real-time Anti-Cheat system designed to swiftly identify and block accounts suspected of employing illegal software.
In the popular game PUBG: Battlegrounds, an Anti-Cheat system is implemented to enhance player experience by swiftly detecting and penalizing individuals who violate rules. This feature keeps tabs on suspicious actions and interplays among players, in real-time, learning patterns of cheaters as it goes. By using information gathered from the game, it can promptly identify and ban suspected cheaters.
PUBG: Battlegrounds Addresses Concerns of Fake Bans with New Anti-Cheat Program
Players are undoubtedly worried about being unfairly banned due to the mention of “block them immediately.” After all, we’ve all experienced the frustration of getting IP banned while just buying Pokémon items. Fortunately, PUBG: Battlegrounds acknowledges this concern in their statement. They admit that their new Anti-Cheat system might mistakenly ban innocent players.
In an effort to minimize unwarranted account suspensions, Krafton is taking two steps to address and rectify potential false bans:
This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler and more natural language. It also provides a clearer understanding of what Krafton is doing by rephrasing “try and” as “in an effort to” and replacing “to try and mitigate and resolve” with “address and rectify”. Additionally, it uses “potential false bans” instead of “any false bans”, which implies that the measures are not limited to only one instance of a false ban.
- Improving the precision of our detection systems to reduce the likelihood of false bans
- Operating post-review and recovery processes on an ongoing basis, so that any verified issues can be addressed promptly
Players who feel they’ve been unfairly banned from PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) can reach out to PUBG Support to resolve the matter. Every week, PUBG: Battlegrounds publishes a list of bans, allowing players to quickly verify if their account has been affected and take appropriate steps. If you encounter someone who seems to be cheating despite the new anti-cheat system, keep reporting them within the game. The team will review these reports with their updated process and standards.
As an enthusiastic player, I’m optimistic that the stricter internal review processes and improved Anti-Cheat tool will effectively minimize cheating in PUBG: Battlegrounds. This enhancement should restore the game to its original enjoyable state and ensure a fair environment for every participant.
