In the game “Stardew Valley”, any villager tagged as “single” can potentially be courted for marriage later on. To court someone, players must raise their affection level (represented by hearts) to ten by offering flowers (bouquet) and performing friendly actions. Once this is achieved, a Mermaid Pendant should be presented to propose marriage. If successful, the villager will reside in your farmhouse, assist with chores, and occasionally gift you items.
In the game at present, there are twelve potential romantic interests, six males and six females, whom we call bachelors and bachelorettes respectively. However, Krobus is a hidden alternative; rather than being a spouse, he can instead live with you as a non-romantic roommate. Interestingly, the list of marriage candidates might have been different if some events had unfolded differently.
ConcernedApe Ran A Poll To Determine Stardew Valley Marriage Candidates
Emily And Shane Were Added As Romance Options Due To Popular Vote
Back in April 2016, ConcernedApe conducted two polls on what was then Twitter to determine the new bachelor and bachelorette characters for Stardew Valley. The winners turned out to be Emily and Shane, who can now be married by players. Many fans are taken aback that Shane emerged victorious over popular characters like Linus and Rasmodius, and if the voting had occurred today, there might have been even more excitement about a romantic wizard option in the valley.
Possible Marriage Candidates from ConcernedApe’s 2016 Poll
- Emily (Winner)
- Marnie
- Sandy
- Pam
- Shane (Winner)
- Linus
- Clint
- Wizard/Rasmodius
At first glance, Shane might not seem likable, but the concept of someone improving for your sake is intriguing, and I appreciate that players can delve into his softer side in Stardew Valley. Linus, on the other hand, is somewhat unpredictable – he seems unwilling to stay on the farm, so a marriage may not be ideal for him. However, he makes an excellent friend. It’s amusing, though, that the Stardew Valley community as a whole appears to prefer marrying an alcoholic over a wizard.
Emily Is A Great Bachelorette, But I Think Marnie Had A Lot More Potential
Emily Is The Obvious Choice, But There’s Some Great Story Possibilities For The Candidates We Didn’t Get
Regarding the bachelorettes, I believe Emily is the most suitable choice for marriage – she’s underappreciated, in my opinion, and her charming personality really stands out. However, she wouldn’t have been my first pick. It seems that not many people are discussing the bachelorette poll within the community, and I can’t help but feel that we missed out on some fantastic opportunities.
It’s intriguing to contemplate Marnie as a bachelorette in this game. It’d be fascinating to explore romantic storylines involving older characters, especially since the farmer’s age isn’t specified, allowing players to interpret their role accordingly. The fanbase seems divided on whether Marnie’s rumored relationship with Mayor Lewis is beneficial or not, and if it’s detrimental, then I hope she could find herself in a nurturing partnership instead. Furthermore, considering her management of her own ranch, Marnie appears well-suited for the farm lifestyle.
Considering Pam is a potential spouse, it could lead to some amusing anecdotes given that her daughter Penny is also a marriage prospect. I believe other villagers were more suitable matches, but I must admit, the contrast between the widespread affection for Shane and the scarcity for Pam intrigues me. It’s possible she might develop like Shane, striving to improve herself for the player’s sake – and perhaps Penny too. The fact that she was even included in the poll hints at some plans from ConcernedApe for her character, and I’m eager to discover what those plans are.
Sandy Deserves Some More Development In Stardew Valley
A Romance Which Can Only Be Initiated In The Later Game Could Add More Variety To The Bachelorettes
Reflecting on the outcomes, I’m astonished that more individuals didn’t express a desire to vote for Sandy, and it appears as though Reddit user propernice would concur. Engaging in a relationship with Sandy, who resides outside of Pelican Town, could have been quite intriguing. Given that she likely needs to manage her store, I ponder if she would leave notes or small tokens for the player before departing for work each morning. As we don’t know much about Sandy, I’d be eager to explore a situation where she shares more of herself with the player.
In the game Stardew Valley, we’re unsure of Sandy’s true name. If a player were to pursue a romantic relationship with her, perhaps she would share it then. Her name could be something amusing or there might be a deeper reason behind the change. I’m curious about her past, specifically her friendship with Emily and any information she has on Mr. Qi. While Shane and Emily make great marriage options, I often ponder what Stardew Valley could have been like if it featured a different group of bachelors and bachelorettes.
