Marvel Star Charlie Cox on a Potential Daredevil Movie in the MCU: “Write Letters”

After starring as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Netflix’s Marvel’s Daredevil from 2015-2018, The Defenders limited series, and upcoming Disney+ shows She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Daredevil: Born Again, and a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker’s lawyer, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil remains confined to the television segment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for now.

Cox expressed that he wouldn’t be the right person to answer questions about a possible Daredevil movie from Marvel Studios,” Cox said during a recent chat with Scott Mantz for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. “I don’t have a clue, I suggest you ask the decision makers instead.

He went on saying, “I know nothing, and I’m content with my ignorance.” The only comment I’ll make is, “I’m overjoyed as a carefree camper.” I’m ecstatic to be here, and I revel in the opportunity to narrate an extended tale.

Marvel Television held a special screening of the two-part series premiere of Daredevil: Born Again in selected cinemas, and later at the Meryl Streep Center for Performing Arts in Los Angeles. Here, Cox participated in a 35-minute conversation with Mantz, focusing on the events of the first season of the show.

Since I’m a part of the show, similar to your recent viewing, we get the opportunity to watch the first two episodes on the big screen each season. That way, I share that experience too. However, it’s unfortunate because, especially with that pilot directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson (‘Heaven’s Half-Hour’), it’s such a cinematic episode that it seems fitting to be watched on the big screen. But all we can do is write letters, I guess.

At present, Charlie Cox is filming the second season of Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again” in New York City, with shooting commencing in March, which was a month prior to the start of “Avengers: Doomsday” filming in the UK. Unlike the 27 actors who were announced during a gathering of stars from past “Avengers” films, “Thunderbolts”, the upcoming “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, and the Fox “X-Men” movies, Cox was not included in this assembly.

*Note: Thunderbolts is a fictional superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Cox recently expressed to GQ that it’s now more likely than ever for street-level Daredevil to appear alongside the Avengers. He also mentioned his desire to feature in an Avengers film, a Spider-Man movie, or something similar.

Cox explained that he has two main reasons for wanting this change. Firstly, over time, he’s grown quite fond of the character and thinks it would be exciting for him to receive such an upgrade. Secondly, he believes that this update could boost his opportunities for future film roles.

In 2003, Ben Affleck portrayed the character known as the Man Without Fear in the movie version of Daredevil, which was produced by 20th Century Fox. This film featured Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Colin Farrell as the deadly assassin Bullseye, and Michael Clarke Duncan as Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. The movie amassed a total of $179 million at global box offices and led to the production of a 2005 spinoff titled Elektra.
