No one does privacy in the public eye quite like Tom Cruise these days.

Lately, the 62-year-old is busy traveling around to publicize “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” which appears to be the eighth and potentially final installment of the $4 billion franchise that he’s spearheaded since 1996.

However, as the days counted down to his recent world tour, it couldn’t be overlooked that Tom Cruise was frequently spotted with Ana de Armas – initially during the Valentine’s Day weekend and multiple occasions thereafter.

Due to rumors arising from their frequent appearances together, the Ballerina star clarified on Good Morning America on May 15th that she is actively involved in multiple endeavors. These include not only one, but several projects with Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie, as well as Tom. She expressed her enthusiasm for these collaborations. (McQuarrie directed the last four Mission: Impossible films and Liman directed Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow and American Made.)

In a subtle hint, De Armas suggested that she has merely been building a rapport with her potential co-star. This is the reason why Cruise was frequently seen with Hayley Atwell before her debut as a cast member in 2022’s “Dead Reckoning” for the Mission: Impossible series.

Moreover, it’s worth noting that Tom Cruise also found love with his second spouse, who happens to be Nicole Kidman, on the job site. It just goes to show that romantic sparks can fly even before production begins.

However, over the past few years, this man with three children has kept his personal feelings largely private. This is particularly true since his high-profile courtship, marriage, and subsequent divorce from his third spouse, Katie Holmes. (As a side note, he made headlines worldwide by declaring his love for the actress from Dawson’s Creek on The Oprah Winfrey Show exactly 20 years ago, on May 23, 2005.)

Despite spending over four decades as a movie star, Cruise truly solidified his role as a leading man with “Risky Business” in 1983 (yes, he dated his co-star), and this fame has naturally sparked interest in understanding the realities of his life away from the screen, regardless of his personal relationships.

Beyond having been married three times, he has also been romantically associated with several women – some due to actual relationships, many more due to co-starring in films with them, and yet others who merely crossed paths with him, as if the world serves as Tom Cruise’s dating service.

This sequence of events has resulted in quite an extensive collection. However, distinguishing fact from fiction was a task we took on, and this manual neatly unravels everything for us.

Tom Cruise‘s career took off almost as fast as his love life when he got to Hollywood.

Melissa Gilbert, famously known for her role in Little House on the Prairie and later becoming the SAG president, crossed paths with Tom Cruise during his early days as an aspiring, financially struggling actor. Intriguingly, it was Gilbert who purchased Cruise’s first set of dishes when they were both working.

In 2014, she shared on ‘Watch What Happens Live!’ with Andy Cohen that they hadn’t had sexual intercourse (she was approximately 16 or 17 years old then), but they did engage in passionate kissing, and he was quite skilled at it.

Heather Locklear landed her breakthrough part in “Dynasty” approximately when Tom Cruise first appeared on the big screen in the 1981 movie “Taps”. It’s not surprising that, following their encounter during an audition, these two promising newcomers went out on a date in the early ’80s.

Later on, Locklear, a resident of Los Angeles, told Chelsea Handler that the date was more like an act of kindness towards the fresh face in town. However, the young man wasn’t short on self-assurance.

In Risky Business, remember when he danced in his underwear and performed the splits? That’s what a certain Melrose Place alum reminisced about. At a nightclub, we were dancing together, and then he started doing the splits. I pretended to be surprised. “What do you do then?” I thought. Should I dance around him or not? So I decided to sit down and let him continue.

Rebecca De Mornay, his costar from “Risky Business”, was particularly captivated by his actions, and they began dating following the movie’s release in August 1983, after it became a success in theaters.

In 1986, she shared with Rolling Stone that there was an unusual sincerity and moral integrity in him, which is not common. She also mentioned that children who grew up in fractured households often possess a deep yearning or longing quality, as they seek love and affection, especially if they have been deprived of significant time with their parents. In her opinion, Tom seems to embody this trait.

During his time in London for the filming of the action-fantasy movie “Legend”, they chose to remain a couple. However, once he left for the U.S. to work on “Top Gun”, their relationship ended.

In an interview with Rolling Stone back in 1986, Tom Cruise expressed that relationships can be challenging. He explained that it’s crucial to recognize when you might be at different stages or paths in life, and have the courage to part ways. People often choose to stay together for a sense of security, but this is not something Tom has prioritized in his personal or professional relationships. If something isn’t functioning as it should, he advised, it’s important to acknowledge the issue and move forward.

When asked about the idea of settling down, he expressed doubts about getting married due to his current mindset. He mentioned that he requires significant personal and professional space and cannot make such a commitment on hold. However, he enjoys having a romantic relationship.

The duo of Cruise and Cher, back in 2002, would have undeniably caught one’s eye, especially during their unexpected encounter at the 1st Annual Entertainment Industry Foundation “Love Rocks” Concert.

however, it wasn’t until approximately 2008 that the entertainment legend first disclosed her romantic relationship with Cruise, which occurred in the mid-1980s and involved a significant age gap of 17 years.

Cher shared with Oprah Winfrey that she had deeply admired him. Echoing De Mornay’s description of his innocence, the singer remembered, “He was timid. He confided in me that he felt like such an outcast in school and no one paid him any attention. On one occasion, we went on a dinner date at a New York restaurant, and the waitress was from his old school. He told me she had never spoken to him back then, but now with his recognition, he received all her attention. It could have blossomed into a magnificent romance as I was infatuated with him.

2013 saw Cher mentioning Tom Cruise as one of her top five romantic partners on the show “Watch What Happens Live!”. She shared that their relationship was in the past and neither of them had ever discussed it, even though she acknowledged her feelings for him were strong. She described Cruise as extraordinary during their time together, noting his privacy, which he has maintained until recently. Despite not speaking about it then, she confirmed her admiration for him.

Cruise met Mimi Rogers in 1985 at a dinner party when she was dating a friend of his.

On May 9, 1987, they secretly got married in upstate New York. Emilio Estevez served as Cruise’s best man at the ceremony. Mary Lee South, his mother, praised their new family member to People magazine, calling her a “first-rate” woman.

The actress who played Gung Ho was earlier married to a former Scientology counselor named Jim Rogers, and it’s rumored that she introduced Tom Cruise to this faith. As Tom Cruise’s biographer Wensley Clarkson stated in 2000 to Entertainment Weekly, “She took him under her protective care.” (It’s worth noting that Rogers has since left the church.)

The actors announced they were divorcing in January 1990.

In 1993, when Playboy asked about her failed marriage with Cruise, Rogers responded by sharing a different account: “Tom was considering becoming a monk. For him at that time, it seemed like marriage wouldn’t align with his spiritual requirements. He felt he had to remain celibate to preserve the purity of his talent.” She further explained, “My own talents required some adjustments.

In 2001, Rogers, who is six years older than Cruise, expressed to the Telegraph that stardom wasn’t a significant issue for him. However, what truly irritated him was the age-related speculations. Certain tabloids frequently mentioned it and inflated the age gap between Tom and himself. Every six months, they seemed to increase my age by a year. If Tom and I were still married, these tabloids might have me in my sixties by now.

Nicole Kidman first crossed paths with Tom Cruise while auditioning for the 1990 action film “Days of Thunder.” Following the finalization of his divorce from Mimi Rogers, Cruise popped the question, and they exchanged vows on Christmas Eve in the same year.

On December 22, 1992, and January 17, 1995, respectively, Isabella and Connor became their daughters and son through birth adoption.

Apart from that, they appeared in two additional movies side by side: “Far and Away,” a 1992 period drama, and “Eyes Wide Shut,” a 1999 erotic mystery. They confessed later that the shoot for this latter film was incredibly intense (and lengthy), and it became even more heartbreaking when director Stanley Kubrick passed away just a few days after he showed his final edit.

In his words, the 400-day journey with Kubrick strengthened their marriage and deepened their friendship.

In 2000, Kidman expressed to the interviewer of Talk, “The only thing I can share is that I sincerely hope we’ll still be together when we reach eighty. I can’t guarantee it, but if we aren’t, I will be deeply saddened.

Instead, Cruise filed for divorce months later.

According to their representative, speaking on February 5, 2001, they decided it was most suitable for both parties to part ways amicably, given that the challenges arising from their different career paths kept them apart frequently.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in October 2001, Tom Cruise explained why his second marriage had ended, stating, “She understands why, and I understand why. She is the mother of my children, and I wish her well. You simply move forward, and I don’t say that lightly or without emotion. Life presents challenges, and you do everything in your power to overcome them, but sometimes you must confront the harsh truth.

By late 2002, Kidman shared with VF that she was gradually coming to comprehend [the reasons behind our separation], which she had not fully grasped at the time.

Upon their encounter, she confided in the publication, “He utterly swept me off my feet. I became deeply, ardently smitten. As is often the case when one falls in love, my entire life plan seemed insignificant compared to this newfound affection. I was consumed by it, willingly. My desire to have a baby with him overwhelmed me. Marriage wasn’t a priority; I just yearned to start a family with him.” (This is what I would have done if given the chance.)

After meeting on the set of 2001’s trippy Vanilla Sky, Penélope Cruz dated Cruise for three years.

At the August 2001 premiere of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, they first appeared together in public. As Cruz stated on Good Morning America, “He invited me, and we experienced it together.” It was a memorable moment for me that he chose to share this experience with me in such a way.

In the year 2003, during a conversation with People magazine, Cruise expressed extreme joy about his relationship. Simultaneously, he refuted rumors of his engagement to the Spanish actress. Despite the relationship’s turbulence, it was not free from legal complications. In fact, Cruz managed to obtain compensation and a retraction from an Australian tabloid in June 2003, following a story that suggested their wedding had been delayed due to infidelity allegations.

In January 2004, they parted ways, and approximately two months later, they disclosed this to the world. A source shared with People magazine back then that “The bond between them simply reached its end, and they mutually agreed to no longer be in a romantic relationship.

Back in the day, when we were filming “Vanilla Sky,” I was already hitched. However, as Tom revealed during his chat on Good Morning America, our romantic journey didn’t commence until much later. But hey, no secrets here, and it’s fantastic!

In an interview with the Telegraph in 2008, she expressed that she has never developed romantic feelings for someone she was working with. Instead, such feelings have arisen after the work relationship has ended. If a relationship evolves into friendship, there might be a possibility of it transforming further down the line, but it’s always uncertain. It’s always a bit of a mystery, and you can never predict these things.

Cruz married occasional costar Javier Bardem in 2010.

Sofia Vergara was mentioned in a 2012 Vanity Fair article (which the Church of Scientology disputed and Tom Cruise’s attorney labeled as “sleazy”) claiming that she was one of several attractive, well-known actresses who were admired by Cruise but couldn’t be convinced to embrace Scientology.

In 2011, when a Daily Beast interviewer mentioned that he hadn’t heard much about dating Cruise with Vergara, the Modern Family actress is said to have burst out laughing heartily and declared, “Let’s keep it that way! I prefer not to discuss that topic!

In February 2005, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise, who were both present at an Ambassadors for Humanity gala honoring Bill Clinton and supporting the Shoah Foundation, were named among other “famous, attractive actresses” in a Vanity Fair article (it’s important to note that the church denied any such matchmaking took place).

Johansson expressed her disapproval in 2018, stating to The Hollywood Reporter that the concept of anyone auditioning for a relationship is deeply degrading. She firmly rejected any suggestion that she doesn’t have the integrity to select her own romantic partners.

As stated in a 2012 article from Vanity Fair, Iranian actress Nazanin Boniadi secretly saw Tom Cruise romantically from November 2004 until January 2005. However, after this period, it was decided by the actor and the Church that she wasn’t a suitable match for him.

On their initial outing, according to VF, Cruise had organized a personal tour of the Empire State Building, preceded by a meal at Nobu and an exclusive ice-skating session at Rockefeller Center, which was temporarily closed to the general public for this special event.

Boniadi joined the Church of Scientology before rumors surfaced about her being matched with Cruise, however, she eventually parted ways with the church. It’s important to note that the church claimed this supposed plan to link Boniadi and Cruise was merely a fictitious project.

Back in 2012, Bert Fields, a longtime attorney for Tom Cruise who unfortunately passed away in 2022, spoke to TopMob News about a similar story published by VF (Vanity Fair). He described it as recycled old rumors that had earlier appeared in supermarket tabloids. The ‘sources’ they quote are fake, according to Fields. In his words, the story is tedious, repetitive, and untrue.

Back in 2013, Boniadi was questioned about Cruise by The New York Post, to which she replied, “I prefer not to discuss that matter. It’s something I’m not comfortable with… As I mentioned earlier, there are numerous positive aspects of my life that deserve attention, rather than focusing on the past.

Following an intense and passionate relationship, marked by Tom Cruise’s heartfelt declaration of love for Katie Holmes on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in May 2005, they welcomed their daughter Suri Cruise into the world on April 18, 2006.

Annie Leibovitz took the first professional photos of Suri for the October 2006 cover of Vanity Fair, and subsequently, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got married at an Italian castle on November 18, 2006, which became known as TomKat’s wedding.

Tom Cruise expressed to MTV News in June 2005 that people will act as they choose regarding his exuberance. He further explained, “The point is, you can’t worry about what others might do or say. What matters is my feelings – I am deeply in love with this woman, who is exceptional, special, and extraordinary. She deserves my respect. I’m content, and I’m just happy to be open about it!

In response to being queried about potentially collaborating with Holmes at some point, he expressed his enthusiasm by saying, “I really look forward to working with her; she’s incredibly talented. There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll work together in the future.

In June 2012, Holmes initiated the divorce process, and as she held a prenuptial agreement prepared by her lawyer father, Martin Holmes, everything was resolved amicably in just two weeks.

Despite occasional excursions with Suri to destinations such as Disney World, the youngster mainly resided with Holmes, with mother and daughter later moving from Los Angeles to New York City.

In an interview with People magazine in October 2014, Holmes expressed that she didn’t want the fact of her marriage to Cruise to be the defining aspect of her life or her identity. She emphasized that she didn’t want to be recognized solely by this relationship. Instead, she clarified that she was an actor before, during, and continues to be one now.

Following his divorce from Holmes, there were whispers that Tom Cruise might have been seeing Cameron Diaz, whom he had worked with in the 2010 movie “Knight and Day.

The rumor was false, but the duo, who had acted together in “Vanilla Sky,” got along exceptionally well during the filming of the comedic action-thriller.

Or:

The rumor wasn’t accurate, as it turns out; however, the pair that starred in “Vanilla Sky” together, were quite friendly on the set of this action-comedy flick.

On The Graham Norton Show, Diaz reminisced about her 40th birthday in August 2012, sharing that she accidentally ran into Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Tom Cruise, and his son at a hotel. They had dinner together, and when it was midnight and her birthday, she exclaimed “I’m 40!” We took photos, said our goodbyes, and since then, I haven’t seen him again.

To my utter astonishment, it turns out that we’re head over heels for each other! And let me tell you, he’s not holding back! He’s pursuing me relentlessly.

2014 saw a gossip spreading like wildfire that Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon were in a relationship. This was the hot topic among everyone working on the set of “Orange Is the New Black”. However, this speculation proved to be false as representatives from both parties firmly refuted it.

It’s quite amusing how people fill in the blanks when they don’t know the truth, as if I’m currently dating Tom Cruise,” Prepon said to She Knows. “And it’s rumored that he doesn’t approve of my role on [OITNB], since I play a lesbian character and am a member of Scientology.

She added, “This is false. Where are they even getting this stuff? It’s unbelievable to me.”

Back in 2017, it’s said that Tom Cruise developed a fondness for Vanessa Kirby following her portrayal of Princess Margaret in the series The Crown.

The British actress didn’t entirely clear things up when she mentioned to The Times of London that she was secretly dating someone. However, it was her choice to reveal this information (which was later known to be Callum Turner, her boyfriend throughout 2019).

As it turns out, TopMob News also confirmed that this rumor was false, and when Kirby first appeared as the sly White Widow in Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2018, her captivating screen presence did all the talking.

Actress Hayley Atwell, known for her roles in Marvel films, underwent a similar transformation during the filming of her role as cunning thief Grace in “M:I – Dead Reckoning”. She is also set to appear in “The Final Reckoning” in 2025.

However, amid whispers of a budding relationship between the actress and Cruise, she sought guidance from him herself on handling the intrusive nature of the rumors.

In 2023, Atwell expressed to The Independent, “I’d say something like, ‘Oh, there are some strange gossip circulating, and it just doesn’t sit right with me, it feels a bit unclean, a little gritty. It’s not my character.’ This is in reference to unwarranted speculations about my professional relationship with a colleague and superior.

In a recent conversation I had with Cruise, I shared some thoughts about self-discovery and personal identity. I said, “You’re always so clear on who you are and what you stand for. That’s all that truly matters. People’s opinions don’t define you if you stay true to yourself and your values.

Spending time together in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day and a woman’s birthday may not be the wisest move to avoid fueling speculation about romantic involvement.

Ana de Armas shared on Good Morning America in May 2025 that she’s been enjoying discussing future projects with Tom Cruise and directors Christopher McQuarrie and Doug Liman, who have worked with him numerous times before.

Regarding Cruise, he’s been following the movie career of the Cuban actress. During the London premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, he told TikToker Javier Ibarreche that he had watched her film John Wick: Ballerina, and he exclaimed, “It’s simply fantastic!
