Kim Kardashian Breaks Silence After Robbery Trial Verdict: 8 Found Guilty!

Kim Kardashian is breaking her silence on the 2016 Paris robbery trial verdict.

Approximately a decade has passed since the Paris hotel room robbery involving a Kardashians star, an event where thieves made off with jewelry valued in millions, including her engagement ring from her then-spouse Kanye West. On May 23, NBC News reported that out of ten defendants linked to the case, eight were found guilty of crimes related to the incident. The remaining two individuals were acquitted of charges pertaining to the planning and execution of the robbery.

In a recent court ruling, it was determined that Aomar Ait Kedach was indeed responsible for committing armed robbery and unlawful detention, as he failed to provide voluntary release following the incidents.

Kim expressed heartfelt thanks towards the French authorities for their pursuit of justice in this particular case, as he conveyed in a statement acquired by NBC News. The ordeal was the scariest event he’s ever encountered, marking him and his family forever. Although the incident will always stay with him, Kim believes in the transformative potential of growth and accountability, and sends his hopes for healing to all involved. He continues to stand firm in his fight for justice and the establishment of a fair legal system.

Kim’s legal representatives shared similar feelings. They stated, “Kim feels grateful for the Court’s verdict and expresses her appreciation yet again to the French authorities for their respectful handling of the case throughout. The legal team commented that she is eager to move past this sad event in her life, while at the same time, she remains dedicated to enhancing the criminal justice system for the benefit of victims, the innocent, and those imprisoned who are striving for redemption.

For several weeks, a legal case unfolded, during which Kim attended court to provide testimony against the accused. Among the defendants were ten individuals, five of whom were accused of armed robbery and kidnapping, while the remaining five were charged with aiding in the theft.

On May 13th, as reported by BBC, Kim shared her thoughts: “I went to Paris for the Fashion Week, a city I have always adored. However, during this specific visit for Fashion Week, it transformed my perspective entirely.

As reported, a woman aged 44 stated that she was in her hotel room when individuals she believed were police officers entered, pointed guns at her, and forced her to hand over her jewelry, particularly a 20-carat diamond ring once belonging to her former husband, Kanye West, valued approximately $4.5 million.

Looking back, I was completely floored, utterly bewildered,” I admitted. “I failed to grasp the situation unfolding before me, despite them explicitly asking for my precious ring – a detail that, in retrospect, should have been a glaring clue!

Throughout the ordeal, the SKIMS founder said she was “sure” that she would be killed.

In a choked voice, I whispered my heartfelt plea to the heavens, invoking the strength and protection of my loved ones – my family, my mother, my sister, and my dearest friend, Simone Harouche. Regrettably, they were in Paris during that harrowing ordeal yet remained absent from the terrifying incident. I couldn’t help but feel the cold grip of fear, convinced that it was my final moment on this earth.

In the end, the thieves tied up and silenced Kim before escaping with her valuable jewelry, leaving her lying on the bathroom floor.

She shared that she successfully removed the sticky tape from her hand, and detailed her actions where she concealed herself on Simone’s hotel balcony until the authorities arrived. She also mentioned that she phoned her mother from the shrubbery to keep her informed about the incident.

During court proceedings, one defendant offered an apology to Kim. However, in her testimony, she made clear that while she forgave him for the events, this act of forgiveness did not erase the deep emotions, feelings, or the long-lasting trauma that had altered her life irreversibly.

Following the armed robbery incident that occurred on October 3, 2016, during the early hours in Paris, Kim Kardashian refrained from sharing any personal content on her social media accounts until January of the following year. Interestingly, this pause coincided with the promotional activities for the upcoming season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which aired in March 2017 and included Kim’s first public comments regarding her ordeal.

During a brief pause from her collaboration with Parisian officials, she decided to speak out publicly about her family’s popular TopMob series.

In conversation with Kourtney Kardashian, who was staying in the same room as Kim during their fateful journey but wasn’t present when the theft took place, and Khloe Kardashian, Kim reminisced about lying down in her robe, drifting off to sleep while she pondered whether to rise and cleanse her face.

Afterward, a sound like footsteps thudding heavily came ascending the staircase towards her chamber. She shouted, assuming it was Kourtney and her companion returning inebriated.

At that point, when there was no response, Kim felt her heart tighten up, almost as if her stomach was in a knot. She found herself wondering anxiously, ‘What’s happening? What’s happening?’ It was clear to her that something wasn’t quite as it should be.

Peering through her slightly ajar door, she believed she was witnessing officers restraining a different resident – in fact, it was the building’s caretaker.

A short while later, Kim found herself unsure of how to dial emergency services in a foreign land. Moments after that, a man who appeared to be a police officer entered, seized her phone, and roughly pushed her onto the bed.

She said to her sisters, ‘That’s when I knew for sure,’ and she remembered thinking, ‘It’s just heart-wrenching to even consider, but it seems like they’ll either kill me from behind or if I manage to escape, there’s no turning back.’

Of the jewelry she lost, “It’s all replaceable, none of it matters.”

Before the March 19 episode premiered, Kim explained sharing her story in this way.

She expressed on Instagram that tonight’s episode will be a challenging one for her. She accompanied a final family photo from Paris, featuring herself, Kourtney, Kendall Jenner, and mom Kris Jenner. In her own words, she felt it necessary to share this personal account instead of in an interview where her statements might be misconstrued. This was an exceptionally transformative experience for her, and though she wouldn’t wish it on anyone, she has gleaned some valuable lessons from it. She is grateful to be safely back home with her family and husband. To her friends, family, and loved ones, she cannot thank you enough for your unwavering support during her most difficult times. Kim remarked during a May 2017 episode of KUWTK, “Honestly, I never imagined that the robbers would be caught.” She was referring to the arrests of seventeen suspects in January. “I underestimated the passage of time and didn’t realize how dedicated the French police were, and all the effort they were putting into it,” she continued.

She went on to say, “Discovering the extent of participation from all these individuals, as I listened to one detail after another, significantly altered my viewpoint and made me feel more secure.

In summary, by May 2025, a total of 12 individuals were indicted. However, due to circumstances, only 10 went on trial as one suspect had passed away and another was found unfit to participate in the court proceedings because of illness.

Kim stated on Ellen DeGeneres’ show in April 2017, “It might sound strange, but I believe that incident was meant for me. My life has changed significantly since then…I feel like events in our lives are meant to educate us, and this experience was definitely a lesson for me. Previously, I was quite materialistic, but now I’m genuinely content with who I am and the way I’m raising my kids. I no longer value material possessions as much as I used to.

The woman who was known for showing off her jewels and brought almost all of it to Paris during that trip? Now, she insists, “I’m no longer that person.

Kim mentioned to Ellen DeGeneres that if she were to do things over again, she would have had a security guard stationed outside her door around the clock when traveling. Previously, she hadn’t given it much thought, but now, she has several for her peace of mind at night.

Kim stayed away from the City of Light until June 2018, but in that month, she went back to Paris along with her then-husband Kanye West. Their purpose was to attend a fashion show by their friend Virgil Abloh, who had recently been appointed as the artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton.

Kim was a bit anxious but thought it was crucial that they accompany Kanye on their journey, she reasoned with Khloe and Kourtney. It seemed like the appropriate decision for Virgil.

In a heartfelt moment during an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” she shared, “I have numerous cherished memories from Paris. I’m hoping that this journey will be so wonderful that it will help me recall all the enchanting aspects of Paris, and why Kanye and I grew to love it so deeply.

After returning to Los Angeles, Kim confessed to her sisters that she had been feeling quite anxious, though generally okay throughout the journey.

“It was so good,” she said. “Like, honestly, I’m so glad we went.”

After the robbery, Kim might have discovered a sense of purpose and understanding about what truly matters to her, and she may have adjusted her priorities accordingly. However, it’s undeniable that the ordeal was incredibly terrifying for her.

She admitted during a 2019 episode of Felony Files that it was the most terrifying experience she’s ever lived through, explaining how it felt like she was preparing for her own death. “Those 10 minutes completely transformed my life,” she continued, describing the intense fear she felt as she anticipated being shot and killed.

In October 2020, Kim shared more details about her personal story during a conversation with David Letterman on his show titled “My Next Guest in Whose Presence Further Conversation is Unnecessary”.

Kim shared that two masked individuals were aggressively speaking to her in French, causing her to abruptly sit up. They repeatedly demanded, “The ring, the ring,” leaving her extremely shocked. Eventually, she understood they were referring to her engagement ring which was by the bed. So, she handed over her ring and he forcefully grabbed her. At the moment, she was wearing a robe and was not dressed beneath it.

Blinking back tears, Kim added, “I don’t want to ruin my makeup.”

In the heat of the moment, I found myself being dragged closer to him, but I was in a vulnerable state, wearing nothing beneath. My thoughts raced as I braced for the inevitable, whispering to myself, “This is it, this is when it’s going to happen – when I’ll be violated. I need to accept it, prepare myself.” And so I did. What followed next was a blur of events that still leave me in tears. He secured me with handcuffs and zip ties, then wrapped my entire being with duct tape – first my mouth, then my eyes.

Prior to concealing her eyes, Kim exclaimed, “I noticed he had discovered my entire jewelry box and flaunted it, saying something like ‘Eureka!’ or ‘Got it,’ you understand, as if to say ‘We’ve won.’ However, I continued to focus on the concierge [who’d been compelled to open her door under duress] because I wasn’t certain about his identity, and I was thinking, ‘What is going on? Are we in danger? Just tell them I have children, I have infants, I have a spouse, I have a family, like I have to return home! Tell them to take whatever they want, I’ll never reveal I saw them, just take everything!’

While one of the robbers aimed a gun at her, Kim shared with David Letterman that she was constantly thinking about Kourtney during the ordeal. She feared that Kourtney would return home to find her dead in the room, causing trauma for the rest of her life. They were sharing a room and Kim believed this was her destiny.

She went on to say, “That particular individual, who wasn’t carrying a weapon, was repeatedly telling her ‘If you stay quiet, you’ll be alright.’

“He could hardly speak English,” Kim added, “but I was like, ‘Okay, is he giving me a signal?’”

Kim humorously stated that she’s seen every episode of CSI available globally. She attempted to mentally capture an image of her attacker for the police, but as she put it, “all the details just slip away from my mind.

Kim explained, ‘After I was bound, he carried me to the bathtub, then lifted me off again and merely set me down on the floor before dashing away.’

Following the robbery in Paris, Kim stated on an episode of “The Kardashians” that she no longer purchases jewelry. This declaration came after Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented her with a beautiful cross necklace in autumn 2022 as a token of gratitude for directing their Dolce & Gabbana Spring-Summer 2023 fashion show. Kim explained, “I’ve been less inclined to wear jewelry since it was stolen from me. The experience was unexpected and I didn’t fully understand its impact at the time, but looking back, I realized I was ready to let go of it.

She remarked, “To me, this necklace signified much more than simply receiving a diamond cross pendant. It essentially restored a touch of my charm to me, and that’s what makes it so precious as it came from such a profound encounter.
