Warning: SPOILERS for Chicago Med season 10, episode 11, “…Don’t You Cry.”
As a devoted fan and reviewer, I must say that the final episode of Chicago Med’s tenth season left me reeling with anticipation for the fall return. The cast, by now well-versed in the unexpected twists that seem to follow them both professionally and personally, were once again thrown for a loop by the jaw-dropping revelations in this finale.
The series’ penchant for sudden shocks – be it a shocking death or a personal betrayal unearthed from their pasts – is almost predictable at this point. Yet, the season 10 finale nearly gave me whiplash with its rapid-fire surprises. The cliffhangers left more than half of our beloved characters in a state of uncertainty, posing questions that demand answers when the series resumes in the fall.
Chicago Med excels at certain aspects compared to other Chicago series, such as the powerful revelation of Sully’s death in Chicago Med season 10. Although these shows can be captivating, the most challenging aspect of Chicago Med’s storylines lies in waiting for their eventual resolution. With some of the impactful twists and reveals from the season 10 finale, viewers are bracing themselves for a long wait until they get answers in Chicago Med season 11.
8. Will Goodwin’s Attacker Get Out Of Prison After Chicago Med Season 10?
Cassidy’s Doing Everything She’d Need To Get Parole
In a powerful showcase of why “Chicago Med” is NBC’s leading drama, the tenth season kicked off with a catastrophe that set the tone for the rest of the season. Gaffney found itself overwhelmed when a shipwreck brought in a multitude of patients needing blood transfusions, and Goodwin’s management of this crisis ultimately led to her being stalked and eventually stabbed by a patient’s grieving widow during the fall finale. The would-be assassin, Cassidy, has since been imprisoned, but surprisingly, she resurfaces at the start of the “Chicago Med” season 10 finale.
Cassidy is trying to explain to Goodwin that she now feels sorry for her past actions as she’s currently on anti-psychotic medication and practicing religion. However, Goodwin doesn’t seem keen on listening to what Cassidy has to say. What’s intriguing is that if Cassidy continues to show remorse and make positive changes, it could potentially lead to her being granted parole. Given that she was convicted of a violent crime, she would likely have to serve a substantial part of her sentence first. Nevertheless, there might be a reason for releasing her early if it’s determined that she still has more to contribute or reveal.
7. Will Lizzy Forgive Hannah’s Pregnancy?
Her Reaction To The News Was A Bit Harsh
Ever since Asher’s pregnancy was announced, one of the ongoing queries was how Lizzy would react to the news. Despite her long-held resentment towards Hannah due to her past struggles with heroin addiction, Hannah has gone above and beyond, from financing IVF treatments to volunteering as a surrogate, in an effort to help Lizzy realize her dream of motherhood. Unfortunately, being a surrogate becomes complicated when there’s already another pregnancy involved. In reality, Hannah discovered she was pregnant herself after being informed that she wasn’t eligible for surrogacy.
Lizzy criticizes Hannah’s pregnancy as being characteristic of her (Hannah), and implies that she should never have trusted her sister in the first place. This comment seems more emotional than rational, and the situation isn’t resolved by the end of the finale. It remains uncertain whether Lizzy will come to terms with the situation and support Hannah during this significant life change. However, it is hoped that their relationship will find its way back on the right path in the future.
6. Will Charles Make Right With His Daughters?
He’ll Have To Keep A Pretty Big Promise Now
Following Daniel Charles’ mother’s funeral, it became evident that he was not well-versed in the lives of his daughters. Unbeknownst to him, Robin had been consistently communicating with her grandmother, while Anna, who had dropped out of Stanford and returned to Chicago unannounced just weeks prior, was a recent surprise to him. In the final episode of “Chicago Med” season 10, it is revealed that Anna’s car accident was caused by her struggle with depression, which she had been hiding and that left her feeling strange and disconnected from her peers at school.
Anna and Robin express concerns about Charles always acting like a therapist instead of a father when they talk to him. However, if Dr. Charles keeps his word and listens more than he speaks when they discuss personal problems in the future, this could lead to improvement in their relationship. But since all three “One Chicago” shows have been renewed for additional seasons, Charles must follow through on that promise in order to ensure a strong bond with his daughters.
5. Is Ainsley Truly Gone For Good After Chicago Med Season 10?
She Disappeared Almost Too Easily
Caitlin Lenox’s romance on Chicago Med with Hayes might have had its challenges, but it pales in comparison to the troubling relationship between John Frost and his childhood costar, Ainsley Towne. When she visits Gaffney to prepare for an acting role by studying Maggie, it emerges that Frost was manipulated into starting a physical relationship with Ainsley while he was still a minor. It took him quite some time to acknowledge that what transpired was wrong, largely because he feared losing the emotional connection he believed they shared.
Following an open conversation with Charles, Frost openly confesses his unease towards Ainsley exploiting him. He directly addresses the issue with her and requests her to keep away from his life, which appears to be her last encounter so far. However, it’s a common pattern for challenging personalities from the main characters’ pasts to resurface when they least expect it. Ainsley may fear Frost exposing her actions that could jeopardize her career, yet her feelings for him seem to border on obsession, hinting at a possible reappearance in the future.
4. Where Are John Frost’s Parents In Chicago Med Season 10?
He Doesn’t Seem To Love Talking About Them
Shortly after Ainsley’s arrival, Frost began showing signs of frustration towards patients’ families, whom he perceived as needing improvement in their parenting skills. He criticized two influencers for seeking advice from their followers when their child was injured, and his conversation with Charles about Ainsley took place following a display of visible distress over a young patient’s mother abandoning him. Initially, it appeared that Frost’s reactions stemmed from a fictional maternal bond he shared with Ainsley, but this observation only adds to the mystery of where his real parents were during the time when this relationship was becoming problematic.
In a somewhat touching yet troubling way, Frost finds himself deeply moved by his lung transplant patient, Noah. Yet, it’s when Noah discusses concealing his readiness to depart, as he doesn’t wish to distress his parents, that Frost appears unusually disturbed. While it’s understandable to feel awkward about a child expressing a desire to die, it appears that Frost may either empathize with Noah or perhaps harbor a longing for the close-knit bond Noah shares with his family. His praise of Noah’s father’s actions in taking hostages to champion his son’s cause suggests the latter. However, until Frost openly discusses his own parents and their relationship, it remains a secret yet to be unveiled.
3. When Will Caitlin’s Prion Symptoms Develop In Chicago Med?
And Will Kip Find Out That She Lied To Him?
In summary, there have been multiple explanations provided regarding Caitlin Lenox’s apparent detachment, but a significant factor could be the looming fear of contracting the same prion disease that claimed her mother’s life. When Caitlin’s brother Kip exhibits similar symptoms, they both undergo tests for Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker (GSS) disease. Unfortunately, Kip’s results came back negative, and before the official confirmation of Caitlin’s positive test result for GSS, she chose to deceive Kip about her own results. Given that GSS has an average five-year life expectancy following diagnosis, Caitlin now finds herself running out of time.
Kip remains unaware that his sister’s life is nearing its end, but it could become increasingly challenging for him to conceal this if she starts exhibiting symptoms. If she were to suddenly fall ill at the start of the next season, it might seem premature, but it could also shape her character significantly.
Additionally, there’s a question about whether Lenox can continue working when symptoms appear, raising concerns that her role in the series may be cut short unexpectedly. Regardless, every moment Caitlin appears on screen now is filled with tension until her illness becomes undeniable.
2. Will Ripley Prioritize Sadie Over Hannah In Chicago Med Season 11?
Their Chemistry Together Is Virtually Undeniable
Occasionally, the intensity of the storylines on Chicago Med can make you think that Gaffney is situated above a long-forgotten soap opera set from the past. Mitch Ripley’s connection with Hannah has shown this quite often. However, it appears that Ripley might have a potential new love interest, as Sadie Smith, a former patient of his, visits his home after he had saved her life in previous episodes. There seems to be a spark between them, and it’s evident that he hasn’t forgotten their initial encounter.
In the tenth season’s fifteenth episode, Sadie initially appeared as a temporary character, but her interactions with Ripley, particularly their flirtatious banter while she was trapped in a well and he performed an emergency amputation, suggested a deeper connection between them. This compelling onscreen chemistry between Holly Curran and Luke Mitchell hints at the potential for a romantic relationship between Mitch and Sadie. Nevertheless, Ripley seems to have distanced himself from Asher (and also Lynne), but the resolution of one final question could determine whether these two characters end up together.
1. Who’s The Father Of Hannah Asher’s Baby?
Did Chicago Med Season 10 End On A Red Herring?
In the closing scene of Chicago Med‘s season 10 finale, Hannah arrives at Dean Archer’s door, expressing a desire to discuss something important. This encounter appears to strongly hint that he might be the father of her unborn child. Interestingly, the timing aligns with the night she cooked dinner for Dean following his wife’s demise, but it doesn’t rule out Ripley as a potential parental candidate. In fact, during the finale’s early scenes, Ripley expresses some reservations about parenthood when discussing the topic with Dean, suggesting that she could still be in contention.
Lizzy’s response to Hannah’s pregnancy adds confusion to the situation. Several viewers noted that Asher doesn’t correct his sister when she seems to think the baby is Mitch’s, yet he also didn’t validate Lizzy’s assumption. Some fans even speculate that Archer’s son could be a potential contender for fatherhood, despite the limited relationship between him and Hannah on Chicago Med. Regardless of who the child’s father is, it seems the identity will generate plenty of discussion until the start of season 11.
