The beloved Tenth/Fourteenth Doctor from Doctor Who and Joel of The Last of Us fame, respectively, Tennant and Pascal, have earned themselves significant and loyal fan followings.

It seems possible, or at least one of them is, that the roles of David Tennant and Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot may overlap, as David Tennant has disclosed his initial desire to portray Pascal’s role.

As a die-hard film enthusiast, I found myself thoroughly engrossed on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, when the MCM Comic Con at Excel London was abuzz with anticipation. The main stage played host to none other than the charismatic superstar Tennant, whose fame demanded simultaneous broadcasts to two additional stages. We were all there to delve into the intricacies of his diverse and captivating career.

In a gathering of enthusiastic followers, there was a chance for questions. One inquisitive spectator posed an intriguing question to Tennant: if the possibilities weren’t limited by likelihood, gender, or age, which superhero and supervillain roles would he most enjoy portraying.

He replied, referring to a character from Netflix’s MCU series Jessica Jones, “To me, when it comes to mastermind villains, Kilgrave is the top pick.

Regarding superheroes, I had considered Reed Richards somewhat, but it seems they’re taking a different approach, which unfortunately isn’t what I was hoping for,” Tennant replied with a smile.

He added: “Although if it has to be someone, I’m very happy for it to be Pedro Pascal.”

Pascal has certainly been a popular choice.

Absolutely! Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, is the head of Marvel’s Fantastic Four team and will be portrayed by Pascal in the upcoming reimagining of these characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alongside Pascal, Vanessa Kirby will play Invisible Woman/Susan Storm, Joseph Quinn will take on the role of Human Torch/Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will bring The Thing/Ben Grimm to life.

However, even though Tennant might not get the role of Mister Fantastic, there’s plenty for him to handle right now that will surely keep him occupied.

He recently finished shooting Good Omens season 3, and now hosts a new weekly program on ITV called The Genius Game. Additionally, he recently made an appearance on The Assembly.
