In 2022, we unveiled our rewards program, which gradually expanded to multiple locations throughout several months that followed. Essentially, the “Stars” initiative serves as a loyalty system, providing additional benefits for individuals who consistently interact within the PlayStation community.

It has often been questionable how many individuals truly utilize digital collectibles. For the majority of users, it’s likely that the allure of Stars lies in the ability to reduce the price of a future PlayStation Store transaction.

Earning some additional funds for your digital purse, which you could get by accomplishing tasks and shopping at the store, was definitely a motivation to visit PlayStation Stars occasionally. However, Sony faced criticism when they eliminated these financial rewards last year; fortunately, they were restored not long after.

It appears that the end was imminent for the Stars service, as Sony officially announced earlier this week that it will cease operation entirely by November 2026.
