In the upcoming series, titled Dexter: Resurrection, characters from Dexter’s past may reunite. The TV show Dexter has been around for quite some time and has undergone several transformations. Originally, there was the main series comprised of eight seasons, followed by a limited series called Dexter: New Blood. Then came another prequel named Dexter: Original Sin, and now we’re anticipating a new sequel series, Dexter: Resurrection. It can be confusing to keep track of all these different versions, but it seems the show creators are attempting to link them in diverse ways.
In the current timeline, the story of “Dexter: Original Sin” is recounted by Michael C. Hall as he reflects on his past as an emerging serial killer in the 1990s, while in a coma following the events portrayed in “Dexter: New Blood”. This narrative bridges the gap before “Dexter: Resurrection”, and elements from both timelines seem to intertwine more intricately in the latter.
Dexter: Resurrection May See Two of Dexter’s Friends Team Up Against Him
In the continuation of “Dexter: Resurrection,” we’ll see the reappearance of Teddy Reed, a former member of the “Dexter: New Blood” ensemble who played an amateur cop. While Reed didn’t exactly shine in handling real-world crime, he’s back for the expanded sequel series, potentially to aid in apprehending Dexter. In an interview with Nerd Alert News (via Dexter Daily), actor David Magidoff hinted that he couldn’t reveal much about the upcoming show but confirmed his return with his signature mustache and implied interaction with Dexter’s old friend Angel Batista, as he mentioned working alongside David Zayas.
Magidoff remarked, “It’s truly magnificent here,” emphasizing his admiration for Scott Reynolds and Clyde Phillips, the showrunners. He praised them not only because they offered him a role, but also because they are kind, collaborative, and have exceptional taste. On Uma Thurman’s first day, he felt the excitement of being around movie royalty and was reminded that we all share the common nervousness of being new to work. David Zayas is delightful, Jack Alcott has become a friend, and Michael C. Hall embodies class—he’s indeed ‘the guy.’ Working alongside such great individuals has been an unforgettable experience for him.
It appears that Dexter: Resurrection might involve a pairing of Dexter’s former police associates, with both Batista and Teddy Reed potentially joining forces. Although Batista has worked alongside Dexter in Miami during the original series and had a brief appearance in Dexter: New Blood, he may not be familiar with Teddy Reed as they are from different periods of Dexter’s life. However, their shared experience working with Dexter could prove valuable to each other. It remains to be seen how these two might interact, but we’ll have to wait and see how the story unfolds.
Some viewers continue to harbor expectations that Dexter: Resurrection might include Joey Quinn, but whether or not this becomes a reality remains unclear. A fresh trailer for the series is slated to drop over the weekend, so we might learn more about which characters will reappear.
Dexter: Resurrection will premiere on July 11th on Paramount+.
