The former Spice Girl, Melanie Brown, has never shied away from expressing her desire for a reunion of the band, and recently, she’s given what might be the strongest indication yet that some sort of plan is underway.
2022 will be the 30th year since the band released their iconic debut hit single “Wannabe,” making it an ideal time to celebrate this milestone event.
This week, Mel (also known as Scary Spice) suggested to Extra that the Spice Girls might have some future projects coming up.
“We’ve got a year to work on them. Let’s put it that way,” she teased.
Yet, when queried about a complete reunion, she remarked: “To tell the truth, I’m just as clueless as you are at this moment. Nevertheless, I’m open to it whenever it may happen.
The Spice Girls – comprising Victoria ‘Posh’, Geri ‘Ginger’, Emma ‘Baby’, and Melanie ‘Sporty’ – last appeared together on stage during the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. They made a memorable entrance by arriving in taxis that matched their personalities.
The band also did a reunion tour in 2019, although they did so without Victoria.
Last April, they all gathered for an evening during Victoria’s 50th birthday festivities, fueling speculations that they might reunite soon.
In an interview with Jimmy and Nath Show on Australia’s 2Day FM in March, Mel C mentioned that some plans were being developed.
“It’s 30 years next year since the release of Wannabe. We have to do something special,” she said.

In April, it appeared that Geri was part of the planning process, expressing her sentiment thusly: “I wish for us to reunite as a unified group. It seems more honorable to join forces as one.
Something is in store for us. We’re united in this endeavor. Our bond runs deep. I cherish them dearly, and they matter greatly to me. Our shared goal is their well-being.
Together, we experienced something truly significant. Our mutual faith in one another has always been there, and that’s a stunningly beautiful aspect of our connection.
