This week, Sonic Wings Reunion is set to release in Japan. However, those in the west don’t need to wait much longer! The highly anticipated shoot ’em up (shmup) revival has been scheduled for release on the 7th of October worldwide.

If you’d prefer to celebrate the event with something more tangible than just a digital file, Red Art Games has announced that they are offering PS5 physical editions. These versions will allow you to own the newest addition to the Aero Fighters series on Blu-ray discs.

Apart from the standard €39.99 edition, there’s another version available for the same price, approximately €45, called the Deluxe Edition. However, only 500 of these editions are being produced. As long as supplies last, this edition will come with additional bonus items.

  • An exclusive sleeve featuring alternate cover art
  • A reversible cover featuring the Aero Fighters Reunion logo
  • A Booster Pack with cards for all of the game’s characters

Then there’s also a €69.99 (~$79) Collector’s Edition, which includes the following:

For nearly three decades now, since Sonic Wings Special was last published on the PlayStation 1, a new installment of this series has been developed. Notably, the original character artist Fumihiko Nantoka and sound designer Soshi Hosoi have been involved in its creation, ensuring that it’s an authentic sequel for certain.
