In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, there are numerous tasks for you to accomplish. Finishing these tasks yields rewards and enriches the backstory of Avalon. Unlike many other quests in the game, which are typically completed once, the Alchemist Guild offers a sequence of quests that span a significant portion of your gaming experience.

How To Complete the Alchemist Guild Questline in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon

The Lenses and Eye of the Sage

You start the Alchemist Guild’s quest called “The Lenses and Eye of the Sage” by speaking with Jann Heber in the central part of Horns of the South. The local healer will task you with investigating an old druidic ceremony, initiating this quest. Then, acquire venison, onion, and garlic, and proceed to the ritual location to execute the ceremony.

Black Tar Prophecies

Upon completion, return to Heber and share with him about initiating the “Black Tar Prophecies” quest. Heber requires someone knowledgeable in druidic practices to restore Cromlech to its initial condition. Proceed towards the beach close to the castle, and converse with Drest there.

Accompany Drest to the Sacred Grounds, where he’ll invoke Iona. Then, you’ll face a decision: align with Iona to eliminate Drest, or stand by Drest to banish the spirit. The choice you make won’t alter the main storyline. Afterwards, revisit Heber, who will share additional insights about the guild.

Whispers in the Dark

After completing your conversation with Heber, your map will automatically show the next destination: the Mistbearer’s Den, which is at the highest point of your map. Enter the den and find Taranis inside. Speak to him to start the “Whispers in the Dark” mission. Proceed into the Ancient Cave and vanquish the Mistbearer boss. With the boss defeated, retrieve its remains and return to Taranis to conclude the quest.

Behind the Curtains

Taranis instructs you to find Eckhart’s diaries, which are located in Eckhart’s Cave. Once there, open the door on your left after entering by picking the lock. Proceed stealthily past any adversaries and plunder the table to your right for the journals. Deliver these journals back to Taranis to finish the task. Afterward, he will request that you meet him later at the Harpist statue near Cuanacht.

Over My Dead Bodies

Make your way to the prearranged meeting location, where you’ll meet Taranis. He’ll task you with locating Caelum, retrieving his research, marking the start of the “Over My Dead Bodies” quest. Proceed to Caelum’s House and discreetly enter the basement. You’ll encounter a trapped NPC down there. Liberate the NPC by removing the obstacle (a plant in this case), then return to Taranis to finish the quest.

The Price of Perfection

Speak with Taranis, who will task you with locating Phaidros, initiating the storyline for “The Price of Perfection.” Make your way to Phaidros’ Lab, indicated on your map, and converse with him to wrap up this quest. Return to Phaidros later to embark on a new series of tasks.

Fragments of Humanity

When conversing with Phaidros, he’ll request your assistance in finding a Fae named Foxglove. His goal is to obtain her heart. Upon locating the Fae, you’ll be given the decision to either eliminate her or guide her to Phaidros instead. You can pick either option, as it won’t influence the main storyline progression.

Aberrant Mines

After completing your tasks with Phaidros, you’ll meet a new character named Alma, initiating the “Aberrant Mines” quest. Alma will assign you a straightforward mission: eliminate three monsters and collect their brains. These monsters are clearly indicated on the map and are relatively easy to defeat. Gather their brains and return them to Alma to finish the quest successfully.

Misgivings

Speak with Alma, who will guide you towards Dal Riata, a person she knows. Make your way to Dal Riata’s location in the Forlorn Swords. Engage in conversation with Dal Riata and then return to Alma. Share your experiences in the Forlorn Swords with her to finish this quest and proceed to the next task.

Unfolding, Extinction of the Weak

Following a conversation with Alma, your next task involves locating Dolf, which is connected to the ongoing adventure called Unfolding. Make your way to Dolf’s Hut in the Forlorn Swords. The destination should be visible on your map for easier navigation. Speak with Dolf once you arrive to wrap up the quest and initiate the Extinction of the Weak mission.

In “Extinction of the Weak”, Dolf asks you to find 5 times the Frostgot Mucus. You can get this by killing snails near any water locations on your map. However, be wary that Dolf might ask you to test his research on you, which is not recommended due to a glitch preventing quest completion if you agree. Instead, decline Dolf’s offer and return to Alma to finish the quest.

The Baneful Choir

Engage in a conversation with Alma, and she’ll direct you towards Heledd, initiating the narrative known as ‘The Baneful Choir’. Make your way to the Alchemist Guild Headquarters and interact with Heledd. She will share her creation’s origin, the Effigy. Slay the Effigy to complete the quest. Finishing the Baneful Choir also concludes the Alchemist Guild mission chain.
