For a decade, Welling portrayed Clark Kent on Smallville, the WB/CW series. The animated GIF presents a modern-day Welling, aged 48, with the iconic side part hairstyle reminiscent of Superman and a reinterpretation of the Superman costume that resembles the one used in Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe films such as “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Another way we might observe Welling in Superman’s blue pants and red cloak could be through an upcoming animated sequel series he’s collaborating on with his Smallville co-star, Michael Rosenbaum. However, due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America Strike and recent changes at Warner Bros., the future of this Smallville sequel is unclear, even though Rosenbaum stated that “the entire [Smallville] cast wants to be a part of it” according to Deadline.
