As we approach the release date of Borderlands 4 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 (scheduled for September 12), additional information about the game is slowly emerging. In a recent interview with Ginx TV (as reported by GamesRadar), Ashly Burch, the voice actor behind Tiny Tina, hinted that the character might not appear in Borderlands 4. When asked about Tiny Tina’s role in the upcoming title, Burch stated that she hasn’t received any communication regarding the character, leaving fans wondering if Tiny Tina will be missing from the game. Unfortunately, Burch did not provide further insights on this matter.
Initially, the character Tiny Tina was introduced to fans of the Borderlands series in the second installment, where she played a small part. However, her role grew significantly following the release of downloadable content for Borderlands 2 called “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep.” The success of this character led to her reappearance in subsequent games and eventually earned her an entire game dedicated solely to her – Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
It’s significant to point out that, given the triumph of Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, Gearbox may plan to elevate this character’s role in their future business ventures by creating a series of games centered around her. This could potentially result in fewer appearances by her in Borderlands games as time passes. The lack of clear information from Burch about her presence in Borderlands 4 might be a strategy to keep players from learning about the game before its launch, disguising it as an attempt to avoid spoilers.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m pumped up about the upcoming release of Borderlands 4. From what I’ve heard, this game could be one of Gearbox’s biggest ventures yet. The studio CEO, Randy Pitchford, has even hinted that it boasts the largest universe they’ve ever created. He went on to explain that the game’s world is seamlessly connected, which means no annoying load times to break the immersion.
During a recent GDC panel, Pitchford discussed that their game won’t include a mini-map. He explained that this choice was made to encourage players to explore the world independently without a minimap interfering. Instead, Gearbox aims for players to meander around and consult the full game map only when they might become lost.
Pitchford stated that while many of your actions can be confined to your immediate surroundings, a significant portion of what you desire or aspire to achieve lies beyond these boundaries. A map of the local area isn’t effective when you’re considering multiple objectives and opportunities that could be miles apart. Instead, a compass provides a more useful guide in navigating such complex situations.
We’ve pledged our resources, channeling them towards this navigation system, and you still possess the extensive map,” he explained further. “It’s just a single click away.
The remarks made by Pitchford about Borderlands 4 have stirred up some debate over its unspecified price. Although he clarified that determining the game’s price wasn’t within his control, he also suggested that dedicated fans would purchase it regardless of a hypothetical $80 price tag. However, he later issued an apology after facing criticism for this statement.
