With the Nintendo Switch 2 releasing soon, 2025 is set to be a massive year for Nintendo fans.
Among other highly anticipated games, Pokémon Legends: Z-A ranks second in excitement among fans, following Mario Kart World which is slated to debut as the Switch 2’s lead launch title.
Moving forward from the 2022 spin-off, Legends: Arceus set in the ancient Sinnoh region, the upcoming title Z-A offers a contemporary perspective. We are thrilled to announce that it now has an official release date!
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to launch on both the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch on October 16, 2025, according to announcements made through Nintendo’s official social media outlets.
Before this news broke, our knowledge of the game was limited to it being scheduled for a 2025 release. Considering that October is near the holiday season, it’s not surprising that it might be launched during this month.
As a dedicated Pokémon gamer, it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen a new mainline installment in the series – longer than usual Game Freak cycles. Given the anticipation, many of us were hoping that Generation 10 would debut alongside the rumored Switch 2 console launch.
Stepping into the vibrant Kalos region once more, I’ll be immersed in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A experience, where I’ll traverse the bustling cityscape of Lumiose City and engage in an exhilarating tournament called the Z-A Royale.
One captivating aspect of the latest news is the disclosure that the game will be released simultaneously for both the upcoming Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch, catering to players on both platforms.
Nintendo has just revealed that Mario Kart World was initially designed for the first Nintendo Switch console, but ultimately turned into an exclusive for the second Nintendo Switch due to the limitations of the original model in delivering the level of performance required by the development team.
It seems likely that since Legends: Z-A will release on multiple consoles, it might not require heavy graphics, a point that has drawn criticism in many modern Pokémon games like Legends: Arceus due to their graphical limitations.
Regarding further updates about Legends: Z-A, we’ll need to be patient until July, since an official Pokémon Presents event has been scheduled for the 22nd of that month.
