Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley are happier together.
On a day following their release from prison, granted full pardons by then-President Donald Trump, the pair shared a heartwarming reunion in Florida. This special moment was captured and shared by their daughter Savannah Chrisley.
On May 29th, a photo was posted to Savannah’s Instagram Story. In this image, Todd, aged 56, was seated in a blue armchair, dressed entirely in black with his legs crossed. Although Todd’s face wasn’t shown, he appeared to be facing Julie, who was 52 and sitting on an ottoman across from him. Julie wore light pink joggers and sneakers in the picture.
Atop the snap of the meetup moment, Savannah wrote, “Reunited and it feels so good.”
Apart from this, there were also other glimpses into her parents’ homecoming moments that the 27-year-old provided. On a separate Instagram Story, Savannah posted a video of herself playfully bantering with her father in the car about how well he managed to stay fit during his prison term in Pensacola, Florida.
In the video, Todd instructed Savannah, “Check out my muscles,” to which she responded by saying, “Dad, you’re really buff!
In that video, it’s worth noting who wasn’t present: Julie, her mom, who along with kids Chase (28), Grayson (19), and granddaughter Chloe (11), shares custody of, was not there. Interestingly, she had served her time in Lexington, Ky., and was released on the same day as the event, making her unavailable.
Without a doubt, it wasn’t just Savannah who was thrilled about the Chrisley family reunions; as the days drew closer, Chase too openly showed his appreciation that the president granted full pardons to the couple regarding their 2022 charges of tax fraud and evasion.
Chase expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards God, as well as President Trump and his administration, in a statement he made to TopMob News on May 27. He is deeply thankful and indebted to them, for now his parents are back home and his family is finally reunited once more.
Todd’s older children, Lindsie (aged 35) and Kyle (aged 33), who are his offspring with his former partner Teresa Terry, also agreed with this viewpoint, even though they continue to maintain a distance from their father due to their strained relationship.
On May 27, Kyle expressed his great excitement by saying, “I’m overjoyed! It’s true, I just learned something amazing a short while ago, and I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around it.
Don’t forget to catch the entire day of “Chrisley Knows Best” on TopMob this coming Sunday, June 1st, starting from 6AM until 6PM! If you’re curious about Todd and Julie’s ongoing legal situation, stick around for more details.
In August 2019, a federal grand jury in Atlanta charged Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley with 12 offenses. These charges included wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and defrauding the United States. According to reports by NBC News, prosecutors alleged that the fraudulent activities began in the mid-2000s. The charges encompassed attempts to evade around $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016, as well as concealing over $1 million from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
A day prior to the indictment being served, Todd asserted that he and his spouse were not guilty, and instead alleged that a reliable employee was embezzling from and extorting them.
He declared in an Instagram post that he has no secrets and is not embarrassed about anything, as he firmly believes that he has committed no wrongdoings. Not only does he feel certain about his innocence, but he also has a substantial amount of evidence and numerous supporting witnesses to back up his claim.
Three years passed before the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” faced trial. After a span of three weeks filled with testimonies, they stood accused but maintained their innocence. On June 7, 2022, they were found guilty on all charges related to tax evasion and bank fraud.
Over a ten-year period, it was claimed by the U.S. attorney’s office that the duo and their accountant, Peter Tarantino (who faced trial with them), collaborated in an attempt to deceive banks out of approximately $30 million through fraudulent activities.
According to Keri Farley, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, today’s verdict demonstrates that regardless of your fame, wealth, or status, dishonesty, fraud, and theft will eventually catch up with you. In the end, as these three defendants have learned, a guilty verdict on all charges serves as a reminder that unethical financial dealings do not lead to success.
Five months down the line, my heart still races with anticipation as I recount the life-altering verdict handed down by the Northern District of Georgia. In a twist of fate, Todd will serve 12 long years in confinement, while Julie is set for seven. And as for Peter, he’ll spend three years behind bars. The legal system has spoken, but my fervor remains undiminished!
For about ten years, the accused individuals illegally swindled banks out of many millions of dollars, all while failing to pay their federal income taxes. As Ryan K. Buchanan, U.S. Attorney, stated in a November 2022 announcement, the lengthy sentences they received highlight the severity of their criminal act and should act as a deterrent for anyone considering abusing our country’s community banking system to illegally enrich themselves.
In the unfolding events of September 2023, I found myself pleasantly surprised by an early adjustment in sentencing. Specifically, my friends Julie and Todd were due for release sooner than anticipated. Julie, initially slated for a 2034 release, will now be out a year and three months earlier, while Todd, originally planned to be released in 2035, is now set to walk free two years ahead of schedule.
Jay Surgent, their lawyer, stated to Insider in September 2023 that without a shadow of a doubt, Todd and Julie are exceptional individuals who have been incarcerated for extended periods. Currently, Todd is serving approximately 10 years while Julie’s sentence has reduced to five years.
In January 2023, the pair began serving their individual prison terms. Todd was assigned to Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Pensacola in Florida, while Julie was placed in a separate federal penitentiary in Lexington, Kentucky.
Approximately six months following the incarceration of both Julie and Todd, Savannah Chrisley provided some information about their well-being. She disclosed that there was no communication between her parents during their stint in prison.
195 days with no contact, she posted on her Instagram story in August 2023. “My heart is heavy… I urgently appeal for justice!
She also pushed back at rumors about their time in prison.
She found it amusing since one of them commented, “He’s let himself go,” she shared on her “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley” podcast. To clarify, hair dye is not available in prison stores. Therefore, his graying hair is to be expected! However, if I could speak to him now, I’d tell him to keep it that way. Honestly, it suits him well! He has a fantastic prison barber.
Yet, Todd expressed his concerns regarding the mistreatment he experienced at the federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, while being confined.
He mentioned during a call interview on the December 2023 episode of Cuomo, that the food was not fresh. Specifically, it had surpassed its expiration date by a full year.
He went on to say, “There are rats and squirrels infesting the storage facility where the food is kept. They concealed the problem with plastic sheeting, but due to extensive black mold, they had to remove the ceiling. In doing so, they discovered a deceased cat lodged in the ceiling. Unfortunately, it fell onto the food pile.
Besides the atrocities happening in the cafeteria, he claimed that someone additionally tried to blackmail his loved ones.
He mentioned that there was a picture captured of him when he was asleep and it was forwarded to his daughter. In the message, he asked for $2,600 per month as payment for his security services.
Savannah, who takes care of her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe while their parents are incarcerated, shared that the convictions of her parents and the limited communication they have had impacts her greatly.
In a conversation with TopMob News in March 2024, she disclosed that their last conversation took place the morning they were sent to federal prison. She also claimed that her father is facing significant backlash due to our vocal criticisms regarding the prison conditions.
Indeed, she claimed that the prison authorities were preventing a significant amount of his email communication with her mother.
In my role as a lifestyle guide, I must confess that there were moments when the journey became almost too much to handle. However, I always strive to keep the focus on enriching others rather than myself.
In her podcast, Unlocked, Savannah expressed a struggle she had in April 2024: the sensation that those close to her seem to keep moving forward without them. She added that she herself often feels this way about people in her own life, as if they carry on with their daily lives without much regard for her presence.
She went on, “I’m finding it hard to get my breath, dealing with various aspects of life – be it the financial strains with the children, or just being a parent, or navigating through a romantic relationship.
2024 saw a monumental moment for me as an ardent fan: Julie’s seven-year prison term was overturned by a three-judge panel from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. While they affirmed her convictions, this esteemed court found that the judge in her 2022 trial erred in calculating the sentence of my beloved reality star.
In their decision, the judges explained that the district court failed to specify the evidence it used to convict Julie for losses prior to 2007. Since we can’t locate this evidence in the case records ourselves, they have decided to overturn Julie’s sentence and send the case back to the district court. The district court must now perform the necessary fact-finding and calculations related to the loss, restitution, forfeiture, and re-sentencing of Julie accordingly.
In simpler terms, the decision regarding modifications in her sentence was passed to a lower court, whereas Todd’s sentence remains unchanged.
After having her prison sentence overturned three months ago, an Atlanta court eventually confirmed Julie’s original seven-year sentence. In a heartfelt apology, she expressed tears not only to the court but also to her kids.
During the September 25th court hearing, as reported by People, Julie expressed, “Over time, I’ve pondered deeply about what I wish to convey, and I sincerely regret my actions and circumstances that have brought us to this point.” She continued, “I’ve spent 20 months in prison, but the true weight of my actions extends far beyond those 20 months, and I apologize for the role I played in leading us here today.
She’s made every possible effort to reconnect with her family, learning new abilities like operating a forklift and serving food properly. This part of her life has been the hardest, and she can never fully repay her children for their struggles. For that, she is deeply sorry.
The Chrisleys are returning home. They were granted a presidential pardon by Donald Trump, as he shared during a phone conversation with Savannah on May 27, 2025.
Savannah expressed her gratitude to TopMob News by stating that over the past two and a half years, she has given everything she had in order to advocate for her parents’ release from wherever they were being held. She expressed that this moment is the realization of many prayers, and she is deeply thankful to President Trump for recognizing the truth and reuniting her family.
They were both released on May 28, 2025.
