How to ping – Elden Ring Nightreign

In Elden Ring Nightreign, you can mark locations and items on the map with pins. This feature allows you to signal to your teammates your intended destination or draw their attention to useful items scattered around.

How to ping the map & items

To drop a pin on the map, first, open it and then press the corresponding action button: On Xbox, this is done by clicking the right thumbstick, which might be referred to as the R3 button on PlayStation or clicking the scroll wheel on a PC. Once you’ve done that, an arrow will appear on your Head-Up Display (HUD), along with a colored line in the sky. If you have marked a specific point of interest, a message will show up at the bottom-right corner of your screen indicating what you’ve marked.

If another player places a marker, align your aim with the marker and keep holding the ‘ping’ button to acknowledge it. This action indicates that you’ve noticed it and are prepared to move there. When two players mark the same spot, the marker will change to white. Subsequently, you can place another marker – this allows you to essentially lay a trail for navigation purposes.

Apart from dropping a pin using the standard procedure, you can also mark an item by approaching it and performing a specific action. On a PC, simply press the ‘X’ key to place a marker right under your current position. For Xbox users, hold down the ‘Y’ button while clicking the left thumbstick, and for PlayStation players, press the ‘Triangle’ button and click the left joystick (L3). This will illuminate the item on your Heads-Up Display (HUD) when you’re nearby.

The ping system in this game is both straightforward and adaptable, allowing you to silently signal to your teammates where you plan to go or what you’ve discovered. Regularly use it to boost your chances of making it through the night. Don’t forget to check out our Elden Ring Nightreign guide for additional tips!
