Savannah Chrisley Slams Claim She “Slept” With Someone for Pardons

Savannah Chrisley is shooting down speculation about her parents’ pardons.

Following the release of Todd and Julie Chrisley from prison on May 28, granted by pardons from former President Donald Trump, their 27-year-old daughter took to addressing rumors surrounding her prolonged attempts to secure her parents’ freedom from incarceration.

Savannah clarified to the media during a May 30 press conference in Nashville that the most common misunderstanding currently is not about her paying for or sleeping on a pardon; rather, it’s that she spent a great deal of effort, money, and time traveling to Washington D.C., often without scheduled meetings, with the hope of being in the right place at the right time and meeting the right people.

In addition to her role on “Chrisley Knows Best,” she additionally shared insights about the extensive measures she took following Todd (aged 56) and Julie’s (aged 52) imprisonment in 2023, which occurred after they were found guilty of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and defrauding the United States the previous year.

Savannah went on saying, “I put up a tough battle, and I ended up being drained. I never hesitated to ask for help. And here’s the point: People often assume, ‘She’s a celebrity, she’s wealthy, she must have an advantage,’ but that wasn’t the case. I had to persevere and be tenacious, and eventually, they paid attention.

In my perspective, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with a sense of pride when witnessing Savannah’s resilience. Simultaneously, I found myself acknowledging that the odds of my wife and me gaining our freedom were rather slim, much like a long shot in a horse race.

He also took time to shed light on inequities in the American justice system.

In the prison system, Todd asserted, it’s certainly not a level playing field when someone claims otherwise. This is because, during my time in prison, I observed that young African American men were not given equal treatment. They were deprived of certain programs and resources. However, I was not denied these opportunities. The reason for this discrepancy is clear to me.

The reality star emphasized that we should all consider a broader perspective – one that recognizes our shared society as a whole. Regardless of political affiliations such as Republican or Democrat, they pointed out, when faced with personal health issues, we don’t care about the party of the doctor treating us. Instead, we want the best person for the job.

Previously at the news conference, Todd acknowledged Alice Marie Johnson’s contributions while collaborating with Savannah during his presidency’s initial term. He commended her efforts.

Todd expressed his gratitude in the following way: “Firstly, I’d like to express my deepest thanks to my Lord and Savior who guided me throughout this challenging time. Secondly, I want to extend my appreciation to President Trump, his administration, Alice Johnson, and every individual who has prayed for us, stood by our side, and fought for the truth to be revealed. For all these reasons, I am truly grateful.

In August 2019, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley were accused by a federal grand jury in Atlanta of 12 offenses. The charges included wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and conspiring to deceive the United States. According to NBC News, these allegations were based on documents they obtained. The prosecutors asserted that the fraud started in the mid-2000s, involving the evasion of approximately $2 million in state taxes from 2008 to 2016 and concealing over $1 million from the IRS.

A day prior to the issuance of the indictment, Todd asserted that he and his spouse were not guilty. Instead, he accused a trusted employee of embezzling from and extorting them.

In his Instagram post, he asserted, “We are transparent and have no reason to be embarrassed, for we are innocent of any wrongdoing. Not only do we feel confident of our innocence, but we also possess a substantial amount of solid proof and numerous supporting witnesses to back up our claim.

Three years passed before the stars of Chrisley Knows Best found themselves standing trial. Over a span of three weeks, numerous testimonies were heard. Initially maintaining their innocence, they were both found guilty on all charges related to tax evasion and bank fraud on June 7, 2022.

Over the span of ten years, the pair, including their accountant named Peter Tarantino, were accused by the U.S. attorney’s office of working together in an attempt to deceive banks and steal over $30 million from them. Peter Tarantino was tried alongside them for these allegations.

In Keri Farley’s June 2022 statement as Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, she emphasized that regardless of one’s reputation, wealth, or status, dishonesty through lying, cheating, and stealing will not shield anyone from the law. The recent verdict of guilty on all counts against these three defendants serves as a reminder that pursuing financial crimes ultimately results in consequences.

After a period of five months, the Northern District of Georgia handed down a sentence for Todd, incarcerating him for twelve years, while Julie was given a seven-year term. Meanwhile, Peter received a sentence of three years in prison.

For approximately ten years, the accused individuals swindled banks out of hundreds of millions in dollars, all while failing to pay their federal taxes. As stated by U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan in November 2022, their lengthy prison terms underscore the severity of their fraudulent actions and act as a deterrent for anyone considering misusing our nation’s banking system for illicit personal profits.

In September 2023, the length of Julie’s and Todd’s sentences were reduced. This means Julie will be freed a year and a half ahead of schedule, in August 2024, while Todd is now expected to be released two years earlier than his original 2035 release date.

Jay Surgent, their lawyer, stated to Insider in September 2023 that without a doubt, Todd and Julie are exemplary inmates who were given unusually long sentences. He added that Todd’s sentence has been reduced to 10 years, while Julie is currently serving a five-year term.

In January 2023, the pair began serving their individual prison terms. Todd was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Pensacola in Florida, while Julie was held at a separate federal penitentiary in Lexington, Kentucky.

Approximately half a year since Julie and Todd found themselves incarcerated in separate facilities, their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, offered some insights into their current situations. She disclosed that throughout this period, there had been no communication between her parents while they served their sentences.

195 days passed with no contact, she expressed in her August 2023 Instagram post. My heart is heavy with sadness… I implore for fairness and justice!

She also pushed back at rumors about their time in prison.

She found it amusing since one of them commented, “He’s let himself go,” according to her on the podcast Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley. To clarify, they don’t stock hair dye in prisons. Therefore, his gray hair is a given! If I were to meet him today, I would tell him not to change it because he looks great with that prison barber cut.

Instead, Todd voiced his concerns about the treatment he endured at the federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, while he was incarcerated.

In the December 2023 edition of Cuomo, he mentioned during a phone call that the food was no longer fresh. It had surpassed its expiration date by a whole year.

He went on to say, “There are rats and squirrels infesting the storage area where the food is kept. They hid under plastic sheets and eventually ripped open the ceiling due to black mold. In the process, they uncovered a deceased cat that had been trapped in the ceiling, which then fell onto the food.

Apart from the atrocities in the cafeteria, he claimed that an individual had also tried to blackmail his loved ones.

He mentioned that there had been a picture taken of him as he slept, which was then sent to his daughter. In the message, he requested $2,600 per month for his safety and security.

Savannah, currently responsible for her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe due to her parents’ incarceration, has shared the emotional burden she feels from their convictions and limited interaction with each other.

She told TopMob News in March 2024 that the last conversation they had was in the morning when her father was taken to federal prison. She claimed that since then, there has been a significant amount of retaliation against her father due to their vocal criticism of the prison conditions.

In truth, she claimed that the prison authorities were preventing a significant amount of his email communication with her mother.

Even though she didn’t want to make the situation all about her, she acknowledged that it could be overpowering on occasion.

On her podcast “Unlocked” in April 2024, Savannah expressed that she found it challenging when her parents seemed to feel as though life was passing them by. In a similar vein, I often get the sense that some people in my life carry on with their day-to-day existence as if nothing has changed.

She went on, ‘I’m finding it tough to breathe normally,’ she said, referring to both her personal struggles and the challenges of managing finances, raising children, and being in a relationship.

In June 2024, Julie’s seven-year prison term was reversed by a three-judge group from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. While they affirmed her convictions, the court decided that the judge in the 2022 trial had incorrectly determined the sentence for the reality star.

As a lifestyle expert, I would rephrase this legal jargon as follows:

In their decision, the judges acknowledged that they didn’t explicitly point out the evidence they used to hold Julie responsible for financial losses prior to 2007. Consequently, we can’t verify this evidence ourselves from the court records. Therefore, the judges have decided to clear Julie’s sentence and send it back to the district court. The district court is now tasked with establishing the facts, calculating the damages, restitution, and forfeiture related to Julie, and then resendingencing her accordingly.

The judge assigned her case to a lesser court for them to decide on any adjustments needed for her sentence, while Todd’s sentence remains unchanged.

After three months, the Atlanta court confirmed its earlier decision and reinstated Julie’s original seven-year prison term, following the overturning of her initial sentence. In a heartfelt manner, Julie expressed remorse – not only to the court but also to her children.

During the September 25th court hearing, as reported by People, Julie expressed regret, stating, “Over a considerable period of time, I’ve pondered over what I wished to convey. I deeply regret my actions and the circumstances they have brought us to.

She’s made every possible effort to reconnect with her family. She’s even taken exams to learn new abilities, like driving a forklift and serving food professionally. This phase of her life has been incredibly challenging. She can never fully repay her children for the hardships they’ve endured, and for that, she expresses her deepest apologies.

The Chrisleys are returning home. They received a presidential pardon from Donald Trump, as he informed Savannah during a phone call on May 27, 2025.

For the last two and a half years, Savannah has tirelessly worked towards securing her parents’ release and reuniting her family, as she expressed in a statement to TopMob News. This moment marks the realization of numerous prayers, and she is profoundly thankful to President Trump for acknowledging the truth and rectifying the situation that allowed her family to be together again.

They were both released on May 28, 2025.
