There’s no invisible string tying Taylor Swift to Scooter Braun.
Following Taylor Swift’s acquisition of her initial six album master recordings from Shamrock Capital, a source familiar with the negotiations disclosed to TopMob News that her talent manager, who previously owned the rights to Swift’s early music through Ithaca Holdings LLC, had no involvement in this recent transaction.
According to the source, nobody from outside influenced this transaction; instead, all praise for securing this opportunity goes solely to Shamrock Holdings and Taylor’s Nashville team.
The source stated, ‘This event has come to pass that Taylor Swift now owns all her music, and it’s significant regardless of Scooter Braun, not due to his involvement.’
Since 2019, there has been a strained relationship between the Grammy winner and Scooter, primarily due to his corporation’s acquisition of Big Machine Records, which was Taylor’s first label, for approximately $300 million. This deal gave them control over her albums including ‘Taylor Swift’, ‘Fearless’, ‘Speak Now’, ‘Red’, ‘1989’, and ‘Reputation’.
At that point, Taylor claimed she hadn’t been offered the chance to purchase her master recordings, referring to it as a particularly unfavorable situation.
She expressed on social media after the sale that “Scooter took away my life’s labor, denying me the chance to purchase it.” In essence, she stated that her musical heritage, which was targeted for destruction by Scooter, will soon be under someone else’s control.
In 2020, Scooter (who claimed he was bound by a tight Non-Disclosure Agreement during negotiations) along with his company, sold Taylor’s music collection to Shamrock Holdings. Meanwhile, Taylor began rerecording her earlier albums under Republic Records and Universal Music Group.
During the disagreement, Taylor Swift put out her re-recorded versions: Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Additionally, she released new albums like Lover, Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, and The Tortured Poets Department.

As a diehard Swiftie, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Taylor announced her master ownership on May 30th! She hinted that her self-titled debut and the iconic Reputation, the only albums yet to receive an official rerecording, will resurface when the perfect moment arises.
However, should it transpire, she expressed in a statement on her site, it wouldn’t stem from a feeling of sorrow and yearning for what she couldn’t have.
Taylor added, “All of the music I’ve ever made, now belongs…to me.”
