In the MonsterVerse, the King of Monsters, Godzilla, will reappear in the upcoming film, “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova”, as well as the second season of the series, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”. Meanwhile, Toho Studios in Japan is busy with the development of a sequel to “Godzilla Minus One”, for which writer/director Takashi Yamazaki is returning. This new installment will maintain Godzilla’s fearsome appearance, but it’s important to note that not all iterations of Godzilla involve city-stomping and battles with massive creatures. The third season of the animated series, “Chibi Godzilla”, is set to begin soon, delighting fans who can’t wait to see their cute kaiju back on television screens.
Initially, Chibi Godzilla didn’t make its debut in an animated show but instead, it was introduced in the 2018 children’s book titled “Do Your Best, Chibi Godzilla.” Despite being tiny, this adorable version of the Monster King was hard to resist. It later got its own animated series called “I’m Home! Chibi Godzilla.” The current series, Chibi Godzilla Raids Again, premiered in 2023 and has already aired sixty-five episodes across two seasons. On July 2nd, the third season of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again will air in Japan, continuing the small kaiju’s rampage. You can check out the new trailer and poster below.
A New Chibi Kaiju Figher Is Coming
In the upcoming third season, Godzilla returns in a cute, chibi form. However, he won’t be fighting solo! Joining him are familiar faces like Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan, and even more fearsome opponents such as Hedorah and Biollante. A new addition to the season is a chibi version of Jet Jaguar, who will be voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi. Katsuyuki is well-known for his roles in anime like Tengen Uzui in “Demon Slayer,” Captain Ginyu in “Dragon Ball Z,” and Diavolo in “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.” Given his past roles, we can expect his portrayal of Jet Jaguan, Godzilla’s kaiju opponent, to be a bit lighter-hearted than usual.
Jet Jaguar has been a staple of the Godzilla lore ever since it debuted in the 1973 film “Godzilla Vs. Megalon”. In Legendary’s MonsterVerse, Jet hasn’t made an appearance to battle Godzilla or the other titans yet, but showrunner Matt Fraction is eagerly anticipating its arrival. Last year, we at egmr.ru had the opportunity to chat with Fraction about which monsters he’d like to see in the MonsterVerse, and without hesitation, he expressed his wish for Jet to join the lineup.
I’m excited about the possibility of incorporating a Toho creature that hasn’t been featured in the films yet into our show. The roster is rich and diverse, and each character has their own dedicated fans. Personally, I have a soft spot for Jet Jaguar; he might not be a traditional kaiju, but he certainly holds a special place in my heart.
