Initially, when you start playing Elden Ring Nightreign, there are two play modes available: Single Player (Solo) and Three-Player Cooperative (Co-op Trios). The Co-op Trios mode is the main option.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be thrilled about how Elden Ring: Nightreign is embracing its multiplayer side. Unlike previous Souls games where cooperation was subtly embedded, this one is designed to be a full-fledged co-op experience, intended for us to conquer its challenges together with friends.
In Elden Ring: Nightreign, there are two primary gameplay modes that lead players through eight different adventures. These excursions follow a pattern of day and night over the course of two days. By the end of Day 2, the Nightfarers will confront the Night Lord on Day 3. Here’s an overview of how solo and multiplayer experiences unfold in Elden Ring: Nightreign.
Solo and Three-player Modes in Elden Ring Nightreign
Currently, Elden Ring Nightreign offers just two play modes. But, developer FromSoftware hinted at adding a cooperative, two-player mode down the line. You’ll be able to toggle between these modes prior to embarking on your adventure, ensuring both online and offline experiences can be enjoyed.
To toggle between the two gaming modes in Elden Ring Nightreign, please adhere to these simple instructions:
1. Navigate to the main menu or pause screen of the game.
2. Locate and select the ‘Game Modes’ option.
3. Choose the desired mode you wish to play from the available options.
4. Confirm your selection by pressing the designated button on your controller or keyboard.
5. Resume playing and enjoy the new gaming experience!
- Go to System settings
- Click on the Network tab
- Change the Launch Setting to Play Online or Play Offline based on your requirement
For those playing on PlayStation, it’s important to recall that a PS Plus subscription is necessary if you wish to embark on Expeditions with friends or connect with other online gamers via matchmaking. However, it’s good to know that the single-player mode can be enjoyed offline, without needing an internet connection.
On May 30, 2025, gamers can start playing Elden Ring Nightreign across multiple platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers.
