In exciting news, the cherished character from Adam Sandler’s repertoire, Happy Gilmore, is making a comeback in a long-awaited sequel! And to heighten the anticipation, Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming movie.
At Netflix’s TUDUM Live presentation, the primary trailer was unveiled, offering a glimpse into the exciting actions that await our beloved golfer, as he grapples with the challenges of rebuilding his professional life.
In the advertisement, you’ll notice that Sandler’s character, Happy Gilmore, is polishing up his golf skills in an effort to gather money for sending his daughter to a ballet academy.
Encounters with both known acquaintances and adversaries like Ben Stiller’s Hal L. and Christopher McDonald’s famous Shooter McGavin occur, along with numerous appearances from notable figures in the world of golf, such as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
You can watch the trailer below:
Thirty years have passed since the initial movie, during which our character Happy transitioned from a struggling hockey player into a surprising golf champion at the Tour Championships.
In my humble opinion, navigating through numerous obstacles and adversaries, the protagonist, Happy, emerged victorious in the 1996 movie. His heroic deeds centered around saving his beloved grandmother’s house from the relentless grasp of the IRS and returning to the warmth of his home.
In the upcoming movie, he’ll encounter a fresh wave of golf players, with brief appearances from stars such as McIlroy, Scheffler, John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris.
Additionally, Sandler, Julie Bowen, Stiller, and McDonald will all be returning to their roles from the original film.
Bad Bunny, who is famously known as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, will additionally join the cast of Happy Gilmore 2, along with Kym Whitley, a popular actress from the show The Upshaws.
In addition to what’s visible on screen, there’s an homage to the initial movie hidden within, as the original Happy Gilmore collaborator, Tim Herlihy, makes a comeback to pen the follow-up script.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the legendary director, Dennis Dugan, will take on the role of an executive producer for the Happy Gilmore project. The original producers, Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds, are also part of this exciting journey, making it a dream team for any fan of sports comedies!
For the supervision roles in this film, Sandler is set to work alongside Kyle Newacheck, his partner from the “Murder Mystery” production.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, with just a few months left before the sequel hits the screens, I can hardly contain my excitement, knowing that it has some big shoes to fill following the phenomenal success of its predecessor. Fingers crossed it delivers!
