The anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 is just around the corner, and it appears that some eager Nintendo enthusiasts who pre-ordered the device might receive their units earlier than scheduled. While such early delivery would usually be a cause for great excitement, the situation with the Switch 2 is somewhat different due to its current limited functionality.
As of now, physical games designed for the original Nintendo Switch cannot be played on the new console without applying the day one patch. Moreover, it’s currently impossible to download digital games from the eShop unless this update has been applied, meaning that early adopters of the Switch 2 will only have access to physical versions of the Nintendo Switch 2 games. However, these games do not seem to be shipping early like the console itself, which could make an early Nintendo Switch 2 feel more like a costly paperweight if this situation doesn’t improve.
Unfortunately for U.S. enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the new console, there’s no indication yet that they’ll receive it ahead of schedule, not even for a sneak peek. No early deliveries or stores leaking the release date have been reported so far.
It’s been reported that Nintendo enthusiasts in the Middle East began receiving their consoles last week. Countries like Lebanon and Dubai were among those who got them, while there have been claims of early access in Russia and Hong Kong as well. However, the proof for these instances has not been as solid.

It seems that people in significant markets like the U.S., Japan, and Europe, excluding Russia, won’t likely receive their gaming consoles before June 5.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly scouring the web for any leaked footage of Nintendo Switch 2 games running on the console, but to no avail. This lack of unofficial videos seems to support the theory that while some units of the console may have been shipped early in certain regions, the corresponding games might still be under wraps.
Currently, Nintendo hasn’t made any comments regarding early shipments. It’s unlikely that they will do so unless the practice becomes widespread, at which point they might feel compelled to address it. For now, however, there’s no indication that such a scenario is imminent.
