Duck Dynasty: Willie Robertson Cries Over Phil Robertson’s Health

Willie Robertson is trying to put on a strong front.

On the June 1 premiere of “Duck Dynasty: The Revival”, the star found himself getting a bit emotional as he reminisced about his father, Phil Robertson, and his health struggles.

According to Korie Robertson, Willie’s wife, she shared in a private interview (recorded prior to Phil’s passing) that “Willie’s father was diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s, and it has been tough for the entire family. Although he wouldn’t openly admit it, I believe it has impacted Willie deeply, causing him to reflect seriously on his own lasting impact.

As they were both getting ready to cook dinner for the family, she confided in Willie about Phil, saying, “I believe you might be dealing with quite a bit at the moment, as we’re navigating that tricky phase where we’re caring for our aging parents and our children and grandchildren simultaneously.

Korie acknowledged that discussing feelings might not typically be something Robertson does, but she suggested, in a caring manner, “Still, it’s okay if you want to express your feelings.

While Willie dabbed at the moisture in his eyes, the matronly figure gently said, “There seems to be quite a lot weighing on you.

However, Willie brushed off his emotional outburst to something else.

He joked, “These onions are the most potent,” as he indicated the ones he was chopping on the counter. “They’re making my eyes water fiercely.

Phil died on May 25 at age 79, according to the Robertson family.

In a touching tribute on Instagram, their 27-year-old daughter, Sadie Robertson, honored who she called “Papaw Phil.” She penned about her late grandfather’s faith, expressing that it was his testimony that transformed his life, their family’s life, and the lives of countless others.

“Now he is experiencing it in the fullness,” she added. “Fully alive in Christ. The new has come.”

In the year 2020, it was found out that Phil Robertson, known for Duck Dynasty, had a daughter named Phyllis as a result of a past relationship. This discovery led him to reunite with his long-lost child, and together they enjoyed a day of duck hunting.

In a heartfelt Instagram post last November, Phyllis expressed gratitude for finally being reunited with someone after so many years. She believes God’s timing is impeccable, and each passing day and novel encounter is a precious present.

Phyllis titled this January 2021 photo “The end of my first duck hunting season was fantastic!” She also shared that exactly a year ago, she started living with her biological father after the paternity test results came back positive. Despite the highs and lows in this incredible journey, she’s grateful for the positive outcome. As Romans 8:28 says, God uses all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. So here’s to a wonderful day and a joyous one-year anniversary!

In 2021, Phil and his wife, known as “Miss Kay” Robertson, extended an invitation to Phyllis and her spouse to join them for Easter celebrations with their family, which also included his brother, Si Robertson.

Phil taught Phyllis how to make mayhaw jelly in May 2021.

Phyllis celebrated her first Father’s Day with Phil in 2021.

She posted on Instagram that her father showed her how to prepare crawfish au gratin. It was a tasty and significant Father’s Day, being the very first one we celebrated together.

I celebrated a joyous Christmas 2021 with Phil, Miss Kay, and their grown children – Al, Jase, Willie, and Jep Robertson. We shared in the holiday spirit together as a loving family.

The Robertson family went duck hunting in November 2022.

Phyllis concluded the 2022-23 duck hunting season in February, spanning from NE Louisiana to SE Kansas. She cherished the moments spent with her father, family, and friends. Discussions on spiritual matters and enjoying the beauty of nature were part of the experience. New abilities were acquired, contributions made towards a missions fundraiser, and the Gospel was shared. Not to mention, we harvested and organized some ducks! All in all, it was a fulfilling season for her.

In April 2023, Phil shared a message on Instagram, wishing everyone a happy Easter filled with joy. He expressed his hope that this holiday, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, would bring light and hope to their story as well as to others. So, he extends warm Easter greetings from his family to yours!
