MindsEye and Everywhere Will Eventually be “Part of The Same Poduct” – Studio Founder

build-a-rocket-boy’s developer, MindsEye, has unveiled its grand vision for the game MindsEye, which spans over a 10-year period. However, the studio has also emphasized that their other project, Everywhere, will make a return soon. In a chat with GamesIndustry.biz, Leslie Benzies, founder of Build A Rocket Boy, discussed the future of Everywhere.

Benzies hinted at how the setting of “Everywhere” ties into the larger narrative of “MindsEye”. He’s been careful not to disclose specifics to avoid spoiling the plot, but he does suggest that we will be introduced to “Everywhere” in the upcoming storyline.

Benzies explained that the absence of Everywhere in relation to the upcoming shooter MindsEye doesn’t mean anything for the project’s storyline. He further added, “You’ll be seeing more of Everywhere soon. Everything we’re creating has a backstory – a grand narrative. So, Everywhere will resurface and play a role in this larger tale. However, I can’t disclose where exactly it fits yet, as it would spoil the surprise. But rest assured, it will be part of the same product again soon.

Our tools are versatile and can function across various worlds, operating independently. Therefore, they’re adaptable to any game we develop. However, we prefer maintaining consistency in themes or narratives when creating our games, which you will notice.

Benzies emphasized that delving into the game MindsEye will offer players a deeper understanding of the world of Everywhere. He explained, “The overall plot will become clear once you’ve completed playing MindsEye. At that point, you might begin to perceive how it all fits together within the realm of the Everywhere world.

Originally scheduled in 2022, the ambitious project “Everywhere” was supposed to serve as the flagship endeavor for Build A Rocket Boy. The game “MindsEye”, on the other hand, was intended for release within “Everywhere”. However, since then, IO Interactive has taken over publishing duties for “MindsEye”. References to “Everywhere” and its development toolkit Arcadia gradually faded away, until recently. Only earlier this month did we start hearing about them again.

A representative from the studio has confirmed that the upcoming game, MindsEye, will incorporate elements of the Arcadia creation toolkit from the game Everywhere. Specifically, the game’s title will encompass two sections: “Play.MindsEye” and “Build.MindsEye”.

The spokesperson explained, “Just like all fresh ideas, things change over time.” Initially, Arcadia was intended to serve as our development platform. However, while we were refining MindsEye and expanding the universe of [Build A Rocket Boy], it organically transformed into a more specialized version – Play.MindsEye and Build.MindsEye.

It offers three integrated parts – a thrilling action-adventure storyline, an ongoing flow of high-quality studio-produced content called Play.MindsEye, and a tool called Build.MindsEye for you to create your own games.

The game titled “MindsEye” is set to debut on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a launch date scheduled for June 10th. In anticipation of its release, Build A Rocket Boy has disclosed their plans for ongoing support for the game, which they’ve outlined in a roadmap.
