What Is The Summer Hikaru Died About?

It remains unclear if Netflix will stream “The Summer Hikaru Died” on a weekly basis or all at once. However, the release date hints towards a weekly format. As for the storyline, Netflix is giving us a sneak peek that “Yoshiki and Hikaru have been friends since childhood in a small village. Their ordinary summer days are filled with sun, cicadas, and ice cream. But on a seemingly normal day, Yoshiki asks Hikaru, ‘You’re not Hikaru, are you?’ This question is significant because six months earlier, Hikaru had gone missing in the mountains and returned unexpectedly a week later.

The summary proceeds by revealing, ‘The new Hikaru appears identical to its original form, yet there’s a mysterious force brewing within him. Yoshiki spends his days interacting with this enigma that mimics Hikaru, all while pretending that nothing has altered. Simultaneously, peculiar occurrences start haunting the village. As we delve into this mystery, the stage is set for a chilling tale of self-discovery and horror.’
