In a forthcoming clash, the inaugural Ghost Rider from Marvel Comics will square off against the Cosmic Eater.
In a sneak peek of Marvel Comics’ upcoming battle between Ghost Rider and Galactus #1, fans find themselves right in the midst of a clash involving the Fantastic Four’s Ben Grimm and a mysterious man, a multiple murder suspect. Regrettably for the Thing, this specific antagonist isn’t keen on backing down easily. However, that antagonist soon realizes the Thing is not his most significant concern, especially when Ghost Rider makes an appearance, eager to mete out some supernatural retribution.

Originally appearing in Marvel Spotlight #5 (1972), written by Gary Friedrich and illustrated by Mike Ploog, Johnny Blaze struck a deal with the devil to save someone dear to him. This pact led to his transformation into a Spirit of Vengeance, bound to the demon Zarathos. Since his initial appearance, Johnny has confronted a wide variety of supernatural, powerful, and extraterrestrial threats. Furthermore, he laid the groundwork for several other Spirits of Vengeance and similar characters who have followed in his footsteps.
Since 1965, Galactus, often referred to as ‘The Devourer of Worlds’, has been a significant figure in the Marvel Universe, initially introduced in Fantastic Four #48 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Over the years, Galactus’ comic book presence has expanded significantly from his initial portrayal as a powerful yet straightforward villain. However, translating this cosmic entity to the big screen has proven challenging so far. This is why the upcoming film, when it hits cinemas, is particularly exciting, as it promises to bring Galactus to life on the silver screen in his most iconic form for the first time ever.
The clash between Ghost Rider and Galactus marks a fresh and exciting installment in J. Michael Straczynski’s recent collection of standalone team-up comics, which brings together Marvel characters that have rarely or never been paired before. This thrilling encounter made its debut on comic book store shelves in January. In anticipation of the issue’s launch, Straczynski shared his thoughts, stating, “I enjoy exploring new territories, and the prospect of uniting Marvel heroes who have little to no history together seemed like it would be a blast, and the experience turned out to be even more enjoyable than I had imagined.
Ghost Rider vs. Galactus #1 goes on sale June 4 from Marvel Comics.
