Not Going Out?! You Won’t BELIEVE What’s Changing!

Over time, viewers of Not Going Out have grown used to the show undergoing changes. For instance, the main cast has evolved throughout its run, starting with Megan Dodds and Tim Vine appearing alongside Lee Mack in the initial season.

2014 marked the point where the show brought Mack’s character into a romantic relationship with Lucy, portrayed by Sally Bretton. Consequently, when the series returned in 2017, it introduced a time leap and underwent a transformation, evolving into a family sitcom. In this new setup, the pair were shown raising two children together.

As a seasoned movie critic, I find myself returning to the captivating world of “This Show” for its 14th installment, where we once again witness a significant leap in time. The heart of our story, Lee and Lucy, are embarking on a new journey as they vacate their familiar abode, now a symbol of an ’emptied nest’.

Yet, there’s another twist in this iteration – the format of the episodes is set to undergo a transformation, as detailed in this week’s TopMob magazine.

In each upcoming episode of this sitcom, events will unfold as they happen in real life, similar to certain past episodes. However, unlike those instances, this format will be consistently applied across all new episodes.

Mack explained about the modification: “I aim to engage the audience, making them feel as though they’re present at the actual occurrence. Ideally, this sensation continues even while viewing from home.

It remains undecided if any of Mack and Bretton’s fellow actors, including Hugh Dennis, Abigail Cruttenden, Deborah Grant, or Geoffrey Whitehead, will reappear for the upcoming season, as they were last featured in the series’ 100th episode which was broadcasted in 2023.

If the current season fails to produce any new characters, there’s a possibility that some of them might appear in Season 15 instead. This season is already confirmed, and it will be the show’s 20th anniversary.

When it was revealed that the show would be back for season 14 and had been renewed for season 15, Mack expressed his joy in a statement by saying: “I’m thrilled that the BBC is continuing to demonstrate such strong backing for this studio sitcom.

For decades, I’ve been passionate about this particular genre, and being a part of it has been more than just a job – it’s been an honor. Plus, since I often receive clothing on set, I don’t have to go shopping as frequently.
