Fresh updates and snapshots from Spike Chunsoft reveal exciting additions for “No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files“. These updates include new characters who will be playable during the Escape segment, familiar faces returning from previous games, and intriguing details about the game’s mechanics.

Get the details below.

■ New Gameplay in Escape Segments

In the game called “Escape”, you assume the role of internet sensation Iris Sagan, or A-set, who finds herself confined in a locked chamber. The objective is to navigate through the room’s mysteries and uncover an exit by solving intriguing puzzles along the way. As the narrative unfolds, Ota Matsushita – a devoted fan and confidant of Iris – emerges as a controllable character, ready to tackle the perilous escape game that lies ahead.

In the Escape segments with Ota, you’ll take turns solving puzzles within a locked room by switching between Iris and Ota. Despite being apart, what one character discovers or acquires can be crucial for the other’s escape. By doing so, collect clues from both characters and use their findings together to set them both free.

■ Returning Characters

Ota Matsushita (voiced by Zach Aguilar in English, Natsumi Fujiwara in Japanese)

An ardent admirer and confidant of Iris, this individual crossed paths with Date during their last investigation. Until not long ago, he found himself jobless; however, currently, he manages his family’s eatery, “Matsushita Diner,” all on his own. In sync with Iris, he also gets the chance to be a playable character in Escape sequences.

Mizuki Date (voiced by Corina Boettger in English, Tomoyo Kurosawa in Japanese)

A student in the sixth grade is currently holding the presidency at Lemniscate, an agency showcasing the talents of Iris. Originally bearing the surname Okiura, she underwent adoption by Kaname Date following a specific event. Remarkably strong physically, she stands out from her peers.

Character Name: Kuruto Ryuki (voice actor: Stephen Fu in English, Atsushi Tamaru in Japanese) and Tama (voice actor: Anairis Quinones in English, Ai Kakuma in Japanese)

Kuruto Ryuki, whose voice is provided by Stephen Fu in English and Atsushi Tamaru in Japanese, and Tama, whose voice is given by Anairis Quinones in English and Ai Kakuma in Japanese.

The characters named Kuruto Ryuki (voiced by Stephen Fu or Atsushi Tamaru) and Tama (voiced by Anairis Quinones or Ai Kakuma).

In this new assignment at ABIS, Ryuki takes on the role – a composed and somewhat reserved investigator, similar to Date. Much like him, Ryuki is categorized as a “Psyncer,” enabling him to delve into dream realms for investigative purposes. Interestingly, he’s outfitted with the AI-Ball Tama in his left eye. In the previously launched game titled “AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative,”, Ryuki was a significant character. This latest installment offers a glimpse into his early days as a rookie.

Moma Kumakura (voiced by Kaiji Tang in English, Wataru Takagi in Japanese)

As head of the Kumakura Family, which sees itself as a moral-bound gang, he maintains strong ties to the criminal underworld and occasionally possesses knowledge that even the police lack. Moreover, his affection for Iris is intense, matching the devotion of avid fans like Ota.

■ Incorporates Gameplay Mechanics From Previous Installments in the Series

This new edition unfolds subsequent to the occurrences in the initial game, “AI: The Somnium Files.” Yet, it also adopts play mechanics that debuted in a later title, “AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative,” which is set further along in the series chronology.

Investigation: Wink Psync

In simpler terms, Wink Psync serves as a streamlined adaptation of the Psync method, primarily employed during investigations to gain insights into someone’s thoughts. By utilizing Wink Psync, you can discern falsehoods or discover hidden concerns when ordinary conversation fails to produce meaningful results. This innovative technology is currently being tested by Kaname Date and Aiba in their work.

Somnium: Key Rules

As a gamer delving into Somnium, I step into the dreamscapes of individuals tangled in a case, seeking elusive truths. Each dream realm operates under unique Key Rules, like keys that unlock the logic of this world, making it smoother to pick actions leading to the truth. At first, these keys are empty, but as I advance, their explanations slowly unfold. In the initial stages, I rely heavily on experimentation and trial-and-error to crack these codes. Eventually, adhering to the completed Key Rules becomes crucial for my journey ahead.

■ Nintendo Switch 2 Physical Version

In simpler terms, the physical version of the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t come on a traditional disc or cartridge. Instead, it will be a game key card. When you initially use this card, you’ll need to download the game onto your Nintendo Switch 2 system for play.

  • An internet connection (required when you launch the game for the first time).
  • 10GB free space (additional free space may be required for updates, etc.).

On July 25th, the game titled “No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files” will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, regular Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam.
