New Tron Game from John Wick Hex Creator Is Free to Try Now

The game “Tron: Catalyst” won’t be available until later this month, but if you’re eager to get a glimpse of what it offers, you’re in for a treat! The developers, Bithell Games, have unveiled a demo for the game, however, there’s a minor condition – the demo is currently exclusive to Steam. The game will be simultaneously launched on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, but demos for these platforms have yet to be announced. This might be disheartening for those anticipating the console versions, but hopefully, we’ll get a demo on those platforms in the future.

If you’ve been out of the loop about the game, “Tron: Catalyst” is a fresh, single-player adventure that has just been released. This is the second Tron game by Bithell, the team behind “John Wick Hex.” Unlike its predecessor, “Tron: Identity,” which was more of a visual novel, “Tron: Catalyst” appears to emphasize combat and exploration more. Bithell refers to “Tron: Catalyst” as a “story-driven, isometric action adventure game.” Despite the differences, there will still be links between the two games, with “Tron: Catalyst” taking place in the Arq Grid, which was initially introduced in the previous Tron game. Instead of playing as Query from “Tron: Identity,” players will control a new character named Exo in this installment.

Since day one, Light Cycles have been a captivating element in the Tron universe; it’s no surprise they were the star attraction for Tron at Disney Parks! The upcoming game, Tron: Catalyst, offers a blend of action that includes both ground combat and high-speed Light Cycle riding. As players progress, they’ll discover new skills for Exo by gathering Data Shards. Initially, Exo is a delivery person who acquires extraordinary abilities after an unexpected explosion. As she investigates the mystery, she’ll encounter a character named Conn, trying to discern his intentions while unveiling his hidden agenda.

Light Cycles have been a significant part of the Tron series since the beginning, even being showcased as the main attraction in Disney Parks. In the new game, Tron: Catalyst, players will engage in battles that involve both walking and riding Light Cycles. Throughout the game, collecting Data Shards allows Exo to learn new abilities. At first, Exo is a messenger who gets special powers after an unexpected package explosion. As she investigates the mystery, she’ll meet someone named Conn, trying to figure out his plans while figuring out what he’s up to.

As the highly anticipated movie Tron: Ares approaches its theater release this year, Tron: Catalyst might serve as an engaging interim option. Whether Bithell Games can provide a satisfying gaming experience remains to be determined, but their enthusiasm for the Tron universe is evident from their past work. Shifting away from the visual novel style could make Tron: Catalyst more appealing to action enthusiasts, although it’s yet unclear if this change will lead to a superior game overall.

At minimum, the fresh demo should offer players an opportunity to determine if they find Tron: Catalyst appealing to their preferences. For those itching to test the game on platforms beyond Steam, patience is required until the complete launch date; fortunately, that’s not too distant – Tron: Catalyst drops on June 17th.
