For devoted fans, including myself, who have followed The Voice since its debut, it was thrilling to witness Adam Levine’s return in Season 27. However, it seems his coaching stint on The Voice might be drawing to a close, as reports suggest he “didn’t find joy” in his comeback. As is often the case, Blake Shelton appears to be involved, and this news brings a mix of happiness and sadness.
In his last performance on “The Voice,” Adam Levine made a comeback as a coach after an absence of ten seasons, joining forces with John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, and Michael Bublé. Though these famous musicians might maintain a group chat among themselves, the lead singer of Maroon 5 is said to have missed the presence of Blake Shelton’s coaching style. According to a source who spoke to The Sun:
Adam hadn’t fully appreciated the impact of working alongside Blake until this current season, when he was forced to shoot scenes without him. The absence of his usual partner made this season less enjoyable for him than expected, and he certainly feels the lack and longs for Blake.
Learning that Adam Levine apparently had less enjoyment this time makes me feel somewhat ambivalent. It’s unfortunate that the experience seems not to have lived up to his expectations, yet there’s something endearing about the fact that his bond with Blake Shelton holds such significance for him.
In all honesty, I find myself in agreement with him on many aspects. Firstly, isn’t it true that work becomes more enjoyable when you have your buddy by your side? Secondly, I was thrilled to see the original coach’s confidence return to the show, and Adam Levine brought a winning tradition that The Voice had been missing. However, it didn’t quite recapture the magic of the old days with Blake Shelton. This is not intended as a slight towards the other coaches, the source added, continuing:
Adam gets along well with the other coaches this season, but he hadn’t had as much enjoyment as before with his old friend Blake. Adam deeply yearns for Blake’s return, as he truly misses him. Bringing Blake back might significantly boost the ratings.
It’s highly unlikely that statement is false. Unexpectedly, Kelsea Ballerini took on the role of Adam Levine’s friendly rival. They shared a great chemistry, but I can’t help but wonder if it’s feasible to rekindle the same spark Levine and Blake Shelton once had.
During the final episode of Season 27, The Voice delivered a satisfying glimpse of what we had been anticipating. Blake Shelton graced the stage with his latest single “Texas,” and producers generously allotted approximately 90 seconds for the ex-rivals to banter back and forth.
Carson Daly questioned Adam Levine about a possible future collaboration on their show, and Levine expressed interest, but I’ll stay cautious until I hear a convincing confirmation from Blake Shelton.
Without a doubt, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine won’t return for Season 28. Michael Bublé, the winner of Season 27 with artist Adam David, will be the only returning coach this fall. He’ll be joined by Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg, and Reba McEntire for the new season.
Look out for when the TV show premieres, but if the rumors are correct, Adam Levine might be absent from our screens temporarily.
