Whitney Purvis is mourning the tragic loss of her son.
16 and Pregnant’s former cast member posted a poignant tribute to her late son, Weston Gosa Jr., whom she had with her ex-partner Weston Gosa, after his passing on June 2nd.
In the message, Whitney (who was featured on the MTV show back in 2009 when she was carrying Weston) shared some memorable instances with her son that she’ll cherish forever.
On Instagram, she expressed that our shared moments will forever hold a special place in her heart, mentioning the music you adored, your infectious laughter, the unique ways you’d express yourself, such as the dolphin sound from childhood, your radiant smile, and your witty humor.
She kept reflecting on significant milestones in Weston’s life, along with his unique bond as an older sibling to River, who joined their family in 2014 during their intermittent relationship, and Collin Adonis, a 2-year-old whose arrival she publicized on Instagram in the year 2023.
On the opening day of school, sharing the experience with you, it was your initial dip in the water, creating arts and crafts together, watching you jive in your crib to the tune of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, displaying an exceptional role as an older sibling.
Or more casually:
On the first day of school, we played together, you took your maiden swim, crafted things with me, danced in your crib to the Law & Order SVU theme, and showed greatness as a big brother.
She ended the letter by reflecting on the memorable instances she shared with Weston, starting from when he was just a baby up until the end of his life.
“The first time I held you,” she wrote, “and the last hug I gave you.”
Whitney went on saying, “My affection for you, Weston, exceeds any expression in the language. Farewell, my handsome darling.”
Or simply:
Whitney continued, “Weston, I love you more than words can express. Rest in peace, my lovely one.
Previously, Whitney had spoken about the death of her son Weston the day before, expressing, “It’s incredibly difficult for me to put this into words. My cherished son, Weston, has sadly left us.
struggling to grasp why life seems so unjust and heartless, I find myself lost for words as I navigate through this unfathomable nightmare – the loss of my beloved child. Perfect in every way he was, and now he’s gone, leaving me utterly at a loss. It feels like my worst fear has become a harsh reality, and it’s almost too much to bear. The idea that life can continue after such a devastating event seems impossible. I am in shock, struggling to accept this newfound reality. All I want is to hold him once more, but words fail me in expressing the indescribable pain I feel within.
Although Whitney didn’t disclose the reason for his demise, Amy Gosa, Weston’s stepmother, provided more information about the last moments he lived.
On Facebook, she posted on June 2nd: “He had stopped breathing, so we performed CPR and requested an ambulance. The paramedics also tried resuscitation efforts and transported him to a hospital in Gordon County, Georgia, where they sadly confirmed his death.
Amy mentioned that the family is yet to receive autopsy results for the cause of death, pointing out that he was dealing with various health problems, including diabetes. (Previously, Whitney had disclosed his diagnosis of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic condition that can result in damage to both the lungs and liver.)
Weston’s stepmother went on to share her love for him and detail their close bond.
In a heart-wrenching outpouring of emotions, I penned: “Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate this turn of events. Losing my child has been the most excruciating agony I’ve ever known, an ordeal I would never wish upon anyone. He was more than just a son; he was a beacon of light, a prodigy who effortlessly combined brilliance, wit, and boundless potential. If fate allows, may I never have to endure such a devastating loss again.
Amy also acknowledged Whitney’s grief in the message, sharing in her sorrow.
She went on, expressing disbelief, “It seems unbelievable,” she said. “I ask you to remember our family and Whitney in your kind thoughts and heartfelt prayers during these difficult times, as we grieve the loss of such a remarkable, brilliant life that was our precious son.

Originally hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Maci Bookout McKinney embarked on her reality TV journey with the MTV series “16 and Pregnant” during its debut season in 2009. In actuality, she welcomed her son Bentley on October 8, 2008, prior to the show’s premiere, and became a cast member of “Teen Mom”.
As she progressed into adulthood, Maci shares parenting responsibilities for their teen with Bentley’s father, her ex-fiancé Ryan Edwards. Additionally, she has two other children – daughter Jayde Carter (born May 29, 2015) and son Maverick Reed (May 31, 2016) – with her current spouse Taylor McKinney.
During the first season, Farrah Abraham faced the most heartbreaking story among all cast members. Tragically, her boyfriend, Derek Underwood, passed away in a car accident before their daughter Sophia Laurent Abraham was born on February 23, 2009.
Following this, Farrah tried various ventures such as adult entertainment, wrote a best-selling memoir, and even dabbled in singing. Apart from ‘Teen Mom’, she has been featured on several other shows like ‘Couples Therapy’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
Amber Portwood and her former partner Gary Shirley had a daughter named Leah Leann Shirley in November 2008, an event documented in the first season of their show. They separated in 2011, leading to Gary, now married to Kristina Shirley, being given custody of Leah.
Amber was in a long-term relationship with Matt Baier before moving on and having another child with her partner Andrew Glennon in 2017. Their son James Andrew Glennon was born in May 2018, and Andrew gained custody of him in 2022.
Just days before his disappearance on June 9, 2024, Amber got engaged to Gary Wayt, who was introduced as her boyfriend on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. He resurfaced less than a week later, and the North Carolina police declared the case closed.
As a devoted follower, I recall the challenging period of pregnancy that Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra experienced, which was chronicled in the first season of ’16 and Pregnant’. After the birth of their daughter, Carly, on May 18, 2009, they made the difficult decision to place her for adoption.
Fast forward through time, these Teen Mom stars from Michigan welcomed three more daughters into their family: Novalee “Nova” Reign on New Year’s Day, 2015, Vaeda Luma on February 21, 2019, and Rya Rose on August 28, 2021.
The high school sweethearts officially became husband and wife on August 22, 2015.
The second season of the show ’16 and Pregnant’ started by following the struggles of Jenelle Evans, who split with her child’s father, Andrew Lewis, before the baby was born.
Their son, Jace Vahn Evans, was born on August 2, 2009. Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans, provided assistance, and the series captured their tumultuous relationship.
Jenelle, who was dismissed from ‘Teen Mom 2’ in 2019 but reappeared on ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ after five years, also has a son named Kaiser Orion “Kai” Griffith (born June 30, 2014) with her former partner Nathan Griffith and daughter Ensley Jolie Eason (January 24, 2017) with her current estranged husband David Eason.
After separating from David, she is giving a new life in Las Vegas a try.
2009 saw the magical day when Valerie Fairman, my idol and inspiration, welcomed her precious bundle of joy, Nevaeh Lynn Fairman, into this world on the 14th of September. Over time, the court graciously bestowed custody upon her devoted parents, with Matt Pryce being granted visitation rights to share in his daughter’s life.
However, fate had other plans for Valerie as she left us far too soon in December 2016, leaving behind a void that can never truly be filled.
From the second season, Chelsea DeBoer (formerly known as Chelsea Houska) welcomed her daughter Aubree Skye Lind prematurely on September 7, 2009. Initially, she was in a relationship with Aubree’s father Adam Lind, but their tumultuous relationship ended in 2012.
A few years later, an encounter at a gas station sparked the long-term romance between Chelsea and Cole DeBoer. The couple tied the knot on October 1, 2016, and have since become parents to son Watson Cole (born January 25, 2017), daughters Layne Ettie (August 29, 2018) and Walker June (January 25, 2021). Together with their HGTV show “Down Home Fab,” they have continued their journey as a family.
In their first month of dating, Leah Messer and her boyfriend Cory Simms found out they were expecting twins. Their daughters, Aliannah Hope and Aleeah Grace Simms, were born prematurely on December 16, 2009, via an emergency C-section. Tragically, Aliannah was later diagnosed with Titin muscular dystrophy. Despite trying to make their relationship work, they got married in 2010 but divorced the following year. Leah Messer also has a daughter named Adalynn Faith with her ex-husband Jeremy Calvert, who was born on February 4, 2013.
In the second season, Lizzie Mortensen welcomed her daughter Summer Jayde Sickles into the world on January 30, 2010, with her then-boyfriend Skylar Sickles (now an ex). Currently, she is a stepmother to Dave Mortensen’s three children and has a son with him, born on June 6, 2018.
Kailyn Lowry initially had son Isaac Elliott Rivera with her boyfriend Jo Rivera on January 18, 2010, a birth event depicted in the second season. Jo’s family played the role of surrogate parents for Kailyn due to her strained relationship with her own mother, but their relationship did not last long after Isaac’s birth.
Later, Kailyn gave birth to son Lincoln Marshall on November 16, 2013, shortly after marrying his father, Javi Marroquin, who was in the Air Force. They ultimately divorced in 2016.
Kailyn also shares sons Lux Russell Lowry (born August 5, 2017) and Creed Romello Lopez (born July 30, 2020) with her former partner Chris Lopez. Additionally, she welcomed son Rio in November 2022 and twins Valley and Verse in November 2023 with her fiancé Elijah Scott.
After the birth of her twins, Kailyn mentioned that she had a tubal ligation, stating on her Barely Famous podcast that she was done having children.
In season two, Markai Durham welcomed her daughter Za’Karia Sanari Worsham with boyfriend James Worsham on October 12, 2009. Later, when she found herself pregnant again, she made the difficult decision to have an abortion, as depicted in the MTV special titled No Easy Decision. She subsequently married Christopher Anderson in September 2015; however, their marriage ended and reports suggest that she has since had two additional daughters.
Former Season Two cast member Aubrey Wolters welcomed her first child, Austin Carter Akerill, born on February 6, 2010, with her then-husband Brandon Akerill. Following their divorce, she later had two additional sons with her partner.
In December of 2013, Autumn Crittendon welcomed her son Drake LeSeuer Franklin into the world with her then-boyfriend, Dusty Franklin. This event was documented during the fifth season of “16 and Pregnant.”
In a rapid courtship, Autumn married Bradley Oxley in 2015. However, she announced on social media that they were parting ways later that summer.
Subsequently, she gave birth to her son Luke in August 2019, followed by her daughter Abigail Ivy Rose on November 20, 2022.
Tragically, Autumn passed away on July 20, 2024, at the age of 27. The Henrico County Police Department in Virginia confirmed this to TopMob News.
