Today, a substantial update for Street Fighter 6’s balancing has been released, also introducing Elena, originally featured in Street Fighter 3: New Generation.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got to say, the latest update is definitely something to check out! But here’s an exciting secret for retro gamers like me: hidden within this release are four timeless classics from Capcom’s Famicom days!
In the game’s collection, you can enjoy playing these titles at no cost: Bionic Commando, Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight, Mighty Final Fight, and Mega Man 3.

Each game is based on the original NES code, but can be played in its entirety.
If you haven’t heard yet, Bionic Commando debuted in 1988, and it places you in the character of Nathan ‘Rad’ Spencer. Despite being a basic side-scrolling shooter, its gameplay stands out due to the inclusion of a grappling hook that is essential for traversing the levels.
2010’s Street Fighter: The Final Fight, initially launched in 1990, presents a new take on classic Street Fighter mechanics, where you control an advanced cyborg version of Ken Masters, engaging in a side-scrolling combat adventure.
Additionally, we have Mighty Final Fight, a spin-off of the well-known Final Fight, but presented in a chibi style. Originally launched in arcades, this game draws inspiration from older Double Dragon titles. In it, you gain experience points and level up as you conquer opponents.
To conclude, Mega Man 3, a legendary game in the side-scrolling series, requires no introduction. Released back in 1990 as the third installment, it’s one of the best in Capcom’s beloved platformer franchise, despite its challenging gameplay.
Let’s not forget to acknowledge the balance patch itself and how it impacts Street Fighter 6 as a whole.
The major modifications involve standardizing perfect parries and throw escapes. Now, a ‘screen freeze’ only occurs when the appropriate direction is pressed in response to an attack for throw escapes, whereas performing them will result in a larger increase to the Drive and Super Art gauges, encouraging defensive play.
In other games, adjustments like buffs and nerfs were made across all characters, including Ryu who’s now moving higher in the rankings. It will take a couple of days for us to gauge the community’s reaction to these alterations.
Essentially, it’s a significant update that includes unexpected additions like the classic games mentioned earlier. It’s exciting to anticipate what other surprises Capcom might have planned for us as we approach Year 3.
