Get ready for the major gaming events such as Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase, and today, June 4th, PlayStation will unveil its own presentation, reminiscent of Nintendo Direct’s State of Play. This means we’ll be privy to some thrilling updates about PlayStation’s upcoming game lineup, along with third-party announcements and sneak peeks. With so much happening this week, ComicBook is here to keep you informed about the upcoming State of Play and what you can anticipate from the showcase.
How to Watch Today’s New PlayStation State of Play
mark your calendars! On June 4th, I’ll be eagerly tuning in for PlayStation’s next State of Play event, happening at 2 pm PT/ 5 pm ET. To find out when the action starts for you, check this link. This upcoming showcase, as confirmed by PlayStation, will last over 40 minutes and will exclusively feature PlayStation 5 games. Past events have been around 35-45 minutes long, with the longest one (not the recent Borderlands 4 special) running a full 46 minutes! Can’t wait to see what exciting announcements they’ll have in store for us!
What to Expect at June 4th’s PlayStation State of Play
It’s uncertain if first-party games will be featured, but it’s quite possible that we’ll unveil Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei during the upcoming State of Play, set for release on October 2, 2025. This sequel to the 2020 samurai epic Ghost of Tsushima has already given us sneak peeks of gameplay, so this event would be ideal for revealing more details. As for other potential first-party titles, Bungie’s Marathon, Housemarque’s Saros, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine could potentially make an appearance. Among these, Marathon, due for release in September, seems the most likely candidate to be shown.
For third-party games, this upcoming showcase offers a platform to unveil exclusive titles, such as the postponed “Lost Soul Aside” and “Ballad of Antara”. Furthermore, it’s possible that additional exclusives may be announced, since the focus will be on global creators and studios. Previously in the last State of Play, trailers for “The Midnight Walk”, “Hell is Us”, “Onimusha: Way of the Sword”, and “Borderlands 4” were presented. Despite uncertainty about specific reveals due to Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase, it’s certain that we will be in store for some thrilling unveilings and announcements within its approximately 40-minute duration.
