In Elden Ring’s Nightreign, the enigmatic figure known as the Nameless King reappears, exhibiting an intimidating presence as a Night Boss. Armed with potent lightning strikes and divided into two distinct phases, he poses a significant challenge for players to overcome.
In the game Elden Ring: Nightreign, one of FromSoftware’s most recognized bosses, the Nameless King, reappears as a Night Boss. Originally optional in Dark Souls 3, the Nameless King undergoes a power reduction in Nightreign. Despite this nerf, the boss remains formidable, providing a substantial challenge even to a trio of players.
Overview of the Nameless King
The character known as The Nameless King serves as the second boss encountered during the Darkdrift Knight and Night Aspect missions. He has two distinct forms: In his first form, he rides a storm drake, while in his second form, he employs lightning attacks with his swordspear. Overcoming The Nameless King will grant access to the final boss of the expedition, the Nightlord. By the time you encounter The Nameless King, your party should ideally be at least level 7 or higher.
Weaknesses of the Nameless King
The Nameless King inflicts substantial lightning damage, particularly during his second stage. Boosting your resistance to lightning will noticeably lower the challenge of the encounter. In the initial phase, aim your attacks at the storm dragon’s head to swiftly diminish its vitality.
Employing fire and holy damage proves successful against the Nameless King, whereas lightning damage fails to yield results. In the second stage, keep a close eye on the boss, being vigilant for unique assaults that necessitate precise evasion. The boss’s attacks are signaled and delayed, so refrain from panic-dodging.
Tips To Easily Defeat the Nameless King
- When the storm drake begins spewing flames, it will do so in a wide arc. This is an excellent time to attack its head. Either sprint to it or roll diagonally through the flames.
- Melee fighters should stay close to the drake’s head as much as possible, maximizing damage while avoiding some attacks.
- Ranged Nightfarers can continuously attack the drake’s head, staying in its blind spot to fire away safely.
Phase Two
- When the Nameless King starts to charge up an attack and raises his spear high, lightning will strike the players’ location with a half-second delay. Roll precisely to avoid the attack and use his charge-up time to land free hits.
- The boss will raise his foot and slam it down, causing lightning to ripple across the ground around him. The AoE is quite small, so you can either back away or jump to avoid the attack.
- The Nameless King will point his swordspear at a player and thunder forward to thrust it. Roll at the first sign of the attack’s launch, counterattack once, and then prepare yourself for his next strike.
- When the swordspear is pulled back and a gust of wind surrounds it, the boss will leap a significant distance while slashing the blade. Create distance or roll at the last moment to avoid the strike.
- Raising the swordspear with both hands, the Nameless King will slam it on the ground in front after a short delay. The ground will be struck by lightning, and lightning bolts will scatter in five directions after three seconds.
- The Nameless King will jump high into the air and dive down to attack a player. Create some distance to have ample reaction time to dodge when the attack is launched.
