7 Unanswered Walking Dead Questions Fans Are Still Asking

In the premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead, the narrative starts off simply: Rick Grimes emerges from a coma into a zombie-infested world and does whatever it takes to stay alive. Over time, he reunites with his family, and they spend numerous seasons evading the undead swarms that inhabit Georgia. However, the collapse of society introduces new dangers in the form of ruthless individuals who exploit the chaos for personal gain. Often, their tactics clash with Rick’s principles, resulting in intense power struggles.

The remaining parts of “The Walking Dead” primarily revolve around Rick’s group battling both the living and the dead, experiencing their share of hardships and losses throughout their journey. This struggle reaches its conclusion in Season 11, where characters who have been continually fighting finally discover a sense of tranquility. However, despite having ample time, “The Walking Dead” unfortunately leaves many questions unanswered.

1) Where Does Heath Go?

After bidding farewell to Georgia, Rick and his group navigate their way to Alexandria, a secure town in Virginia. Upon arrival, the residents of Alexandria struggle to comprehend the cautiousness of their new acquaintances; however, it swiftly becomes evident that the world outside can be perilous.

Among the Alexandria residents, Health is the one who aligns himself with Rick’s group. Often, following periods of calm, he embarks on supply-gathering missions. Unfortunately, during a mission alongside Tara in Season 7, Health vanishes without a trace and fails to reappear on the show. It’s eventually revealed that he winds up with the Civic Republic Military, but after this point, there’s no further information disclosed about his whereabouts.

2) Is Judith Really Shane’s Child?

As a passionate film buff, I find myself drawn to the intriguing dynamic of a series where my character, Rick, is in a coma at the hospital when the outbreak occurs, leading his wife, Lori, to believe me dead. In my absence, my partner, Shane, steps up to help Lori and her son, Carl, navigate the chaos and find safety. As time passes, feelings begin to develop between Shane and Lori, a situation that escalates into something more significant when I miraculously return. This romantic entanglement becomes a major source of tension as I reclaim my place and deal with the fallout.

Lori breaks up with Shane, which upset him greatly. For two seasons, Shane tries to win Lori back, causing tension between them. During this time, Lori finds out she’s pregnant, but the baby’s father isn’t clear. The show later suggests that Rick doubts Judith is his child, although this isn’t definitively confirmed.

3) How Do Cars Still Have Viable Gas?

In “The Walking Dead”, the availability of supplies is crucial since resources are scarce. Factories no longer produce food or clothing, meaning whatever remains is a valuable prize. Interestingly, one resource that’s always abundant is gas.

On the AMC series, characters frequently hop into vehicles and travel without encountering problems related to fuel. However, in real life, gasoline has a limited lifespan, and unless gas stations are mysteriously refilled by some fairy, there’s no explanation for such smooth journeys. Although it’s not the most significant inconsistency in the show, it’s worth pointing out.

4) Why Did Rosita Have to Die?

In the early seasons of “The Walking Dead”, not many characters who join survive until the end. Among those who do are heavyweight characters like Daryl, Carol, Rick, Maggie, Michonne, Gabriel, and Eugene. Rosita seems to be joining their ranks in Season 11, but unfortunately, she meets her demise at the end of the series.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events during her efforts to shield her daughter, Rosita receives a walker bite. A poignant farewell scene follows as she says goodbye to friends and loved ones, yet the situation seems undeservedly dramatic. It appears that The Walking Dead was aiming for one final emotional blow before concluding its storyline.

5) Does Pamela Ever Get Out of Jail?

In “The Walking Dead”, there are plenty of memorable antagonists. The Governor employs military resources to instill fear in Rick’s group, whereas Negan executes Abraham and Glenn without hesitation. However, the villain who ultimately earns the title of the final formidable adversary is Pamela, the head of the Commonwealth.

Pamela often disregards the safety of those she governs, intentionally drawing zombies towards the Commonwealth’s gates as a means of demonstrating her point. This deception is eventually discovered by the citizens who then overthrow her, resulting in her imprisonment. However, despite advancements in time and additional series, the franchise has not reintroduced this villain since.

6) What Happens to Grady Memorial Hospital?

As the gang remains in Georgia, Beth Greene, Maggie’s sibling, becomes detained at Grady Memorial Hospital. The woman in charge, Dawn Lerner, is a former police officer striving to maintain order. However, her strict control over others leaves her allies questioning her trustworthiness due to her reluctance to grant them freedom of choice.

In the end, Beth’s companions manage to reach her for help, but events quickly spiral out of control. A confrontation between Beth and Dawn ensues, causing a police officer to react instinctively by firing his weapon. Tragically, both Beth and Dawn lose their lives as a result. With this incident at Grady Memorial Hospital, the hospital is no longer seen in The Walking Dead, leaving viewers puzzled about its ultimate fate.

7) Will There Ever Be a Cure for the Virus?

Initially within the series The Walking Dead, the central theme revolves around discovering a remedy for the zombie apocalypse. The group embarks on a journey to the CDC in Atlanta in search of answers, only to find out that they too are infected and will transform upon death. Consequently, the quest for a cure becomes secondary as the struggle for survival becomes paramount.

The ongoing spinoff series of “The Walking Dead” hint at possible remedies, such as a fungal one in “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”. But so far, not much progress has been made, giving an impression that the undead will remain a constant element within the franchise’s universe.
