Announcement has been made by NetherRealm Studios together with Digital Eclipse that they are re-releasing their iconic Mortal Kombat series. This collection, known as the Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection, will feature several games dating back to the 90s and up until the 2000s. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
The announcement for the collection does not currently provide a complete rundown of all the Mortal Kombat games that are included. However, here’s an initial list with some notable titles such as Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat 2 (1993), Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), Mortal Kombat 4 (1997), Mortal Kombat: Advance (2001), Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002), and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (2003). But remember, this is not the full list.
You’ll find numerous adaptations of these timeless games, catering to a range of platforms. These include retro systems such as the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), classic arcade machines, and even the Game Boy Advance.
The responsibility for resurrecting these timeless game titles has been assigned to Digital Eclipse, a company known for their work on projects such as Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration and Tetris Forever. Following in their usual style, the Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection will offer additional content related to the creation of the original Mortal Kombat games. This extra material includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and fresh concept art.
