Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Reunite in Wicked: For Good Trailer

Citizens of Oz, the Wicked: For Good trailer has arrived, and it is absolutely wonderful.

Approximately half a year following the initial theater release, on June 4, the long-awaited sequel’s trailer was unveiled, transporting fans once more to Oz alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who reprise their roles as erstwhile foes now best friends, Glinda and Elphaba.

In the video, spectators were treated to fragments of songs titled “No Good Deed” and “For Good,” as well as the consequences of Elphaba’s act of rebellion against the wizard, which led Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) in pursuit of her.

During a touching reunion, Elphaba (Cynthia) expresses to Glinda (Ariana), “You were the one and only true friend I ever had,” to which Glinda responds, “Well, I’ve certainly had my fair share of friends.

On a single special day, Jon M. Chu’s production titled “Wicked” was back on the cinema screens on June 4. This re-release in movie theaters also presented a sneak peek at the trailer for the upcoming sequel, scheduled to hit theaters on November 21, 2025. Moreover, it breathed life into Act Two of the musical.

Prior to the full trailer’s release, Universal Pictures unveiled a sneak peek, featuring each cast member accompanied by a piano rendition of “For Good.” As Ariana and Cynthia croon the memorable line “I have been changed,” the title screen for Wicked: For Good is revealed.

Cynthia makes her entrance, sporting a fresh new style with her hair loose and donning Elphaba’s enchanting witch hat, metamorphosing into the Wicked Witch of the West. The scene unfolds to introduce Prince Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. Ethan Slater, who has been rumored to be in a relationship with Ariana since July 2023, appears next, followed by Marissa Bode portraying Nessarose.

Ariana, previously seen wearing her Shiz University uniform while wielding Glinda’s magical wand, has now transformed herself, donning a fresh gown and tiara instead.

Last time I journeyed to the radiant Emerald City, onlookers witnessed Elphaba’s heartfelt dream come true as she met the Enigmatic Wizard of Oz, accompanied by Glinda. However, it soon became evident that the creatures Elphaba sought to protect were being harmed by this very Wizard. In a bid to safeguard the Grimmerie, Oz’s spellbook, Elphaba decided to make a hasty exit.

In simpler terms, Glinda and Elphaba, who held contrasting dreams and convictions, bid a heartfelt farewell during Act One’s climactic song “Defying Gravity.” With that, the Wicked Witch departed on her broomstick, firmly established as the antagonist of Oz.

As we retrace our steps along the yellow brick road, the musical Wicked: For Good resumes in its second act, following Elphaba’s persistent struggle for animal rights amidst her designation as a public enemy, and Glinda faithfully serving Oz as the “Good Witch.” Additionally, a fresh face from Kansas makes an appearance in Munchkinland. For the film’s Academy Award-nominated director, Wicked: For Good promises to be just as deeply moving for the characters as their initial journey.

“If movie one is about choices,” Jon told TopMob News Jan. 5, “movie two is about consequences.”

He went on to say, “Navigating their paths becomes quite complex and filled with intricacies when two characters have such disparate ends, yet it can also be incredibly poignant and courageous for them both as they grow along the way.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m just as eager as you are to rejoin the magical world of Oz with the Wizard! But let me tell you, “Wicked: For Good” isn’t the only enchanting film that’ll be gracing our movie screens in 2025. If you’re curious about all the other movies coming out this year, be sure to stick around and keep reading!
