A player of Oblivion Remastered demonstrated dominance over the most frustrating Dark Brotherhood mission, executing a kill that would be fitting in an elite esports highlights reel.
As a devoted fan, if I may share my experience, I’ve been deeply engrossed in Oblivion Remastered’s Dark Brotherhood questline. Chances are high that you’ve encountered Adamus Phillada, an Imperial soldier who plays pivotal roles in two distinct missions. In one, I found myself camouflaging for a full day in a den of skooma, and in another, I was assigned to permanently silence this relentless investigator.
In the game, Phillada poses such a nuisance to the Dark Brotherhood that they provide you with a unique ‘one-shot’ arrow to eliminate him. However, there’s a hitch: he’s relocated to the city of Leyawiin where, as a respected commander, he’s always accompanied by security, and spends most of his days parading around in impenetrable armor that your arrow cannot penetrate.
An exception to the rule applies when Phillada is either sleeping, securely confined in the guard house, or taking his daily swim. During these times, he should take off his armor to prevent any nearby assassins from easily attacking him. However, in Oblivion Remastered, he doesn’t always comply with this rule and can be seen for extended periods, submerged while wearing full plate armor.
This bug is intriguing because it wasn’t seen in the original Oblivion game, and even though it doesn’t affect the gameplay significantly – the game displays Phillada’s armor, but it doesn’t recognize it, allowing you to attack him freely and reduce his health faster. Unfortunately, I discovered this after already defeating Phillada. If I had known earlier, I might have devised a more effective strategy like the one described below.
Assassin’s Creed: (dark) Brotherhood from r/oblivion
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at the way One_question_113 paid homage to the Assassin’s Creed lineage in their parkour kill video. Their acrobatic prowess was so captivating that it momentarily made me doubt they weren’t a Khajiit, given their nimbleness traversing Leyawiin’s rooftops. With each agile leap across the tiles, I found myself questioning the laws of physics themselves.
Finally, they leaped from the last rooftop, drawing their bow and a special Brotherhood arrow. With uncanny precision, they struck Phillada’s armored head as they landed unscathed in the pool beside him – a fitting finale for arguably the most vexing Dark Brotherhood assassination in the game.
