In fact, though the “Seconds of Pleasure” artist announced that he’s proposed to his long-term partner, it seems the wedding isn’t happening imminently.

Van, who is 55 years old, mentioned during the joint interview on Today.com (published June 4) that “I’ve made the suggestion, but it hasn’t been acted upon yet, as you can see.” He added, “It’s sort of hanging in the balance, and perhaps your support could help move things along.

Regarding her lack of response, the Oscar-winning individual feels confident that their five-year romance is strong and steady.

Halle, aged 58, shared that she’s been down the aisle three times, with David Justice, Eric Benét, and Olivier Martinez being her former husbands. In contrast, Van has only been married once. As a result, they both feel that marriage isn’t necessary to prove the authenticity of their love; they don’t feel the need to tie the knot again.

She went on to say, “I believe this is the person I ought to have married among those I’ve been wed to. It’s not that we feel obligated, but rather a desire we share – we feel inclined to get married. This isn’t something we feel pressured into, but rather an action we wish to take because it represents something we yearn for.

The pair attribute their strong base as the reason they’re so happy in their relationship, sharing the pain they felt while initially getting acquainted through texts, a connection facilitated by the musician’s brother.

Prior to any physical interaction, I had already developed a profound love for him through conversations, exchanges, and sharing everything – the good, the bad, and even the messy details.
