I’m surprised Helldivers 2 has a new Warbond already, and it’s adding a stratagem I’ve wanted for ages — here’s everything in it

Approximately a week following the successful defense of Super Earth against an immense Illuminate invasion fleet in the Battle for Super Earth, lasting nearly two weeks, Arrowhead Game Studios has announced the imminent arrival of the next battle pass, Warbond, for the cooperative shooter on Windows PC and PS5.

The Warbond, titled “Force of Law,” is an upcoming pass that offers a riot-police/SWAT theme, introducing fresh weapons, tactics, and armor collections, as well as aesthetic items such as capes and skins for FRV vehicles and Exosuit mechs (as shown in this illustration). The release date is set for June 12. Like all Premium Warbonds, it will retail for 1,000 Super Credits, equivalent to $10.

A fresh, captivating trailer unveiled, displaying various gameplay elements being utilized against the Illuminate, accompanied by a fusion of synthwave and melodic guitar licks reminiscent of an ’80s action movie soundtrack. You can check it out using the embedded video below.

The game titled “Force of Law” with its additional kit is primarily about managing crowds, and it appears that all the new gameplay elements are perfect for slowing down and confusing large numbers of adversaries. For instance, the GL-52 De-Escalator, a support weapon grenade launcher, generates a wide field of disorienting arc electricity upon impact, while the AR-32 Pacifier assault rifle offers a high capacity magazine that’s great for dealing with swarms of Illuminate Voteless or common Terminid bugs.

Additionally, you’ll find the G-109 Sticky Shocker Grenade, which repeatedly electrically shocks and incapacitates enemies it’s attached to. A tactic I’ve been eagerly anticipating for some time is also available: the AX/ARC-3 “Guard Dog” K-9, a modification of wearable drone sentries equipped with an Arc Thrower-like electric weapon.

When I opt for a shock-centric strategy using the Arc Thrower, it matches perfectly. I often employ this technique against Illuminate and Terminids due to its surprising efficacy against those factions. However, as is often the case with Helldivers, unintended friendly fire may occur, so wearing armor with the Electrical Conduit passive, which lessens electric damage by 95%, could be beneficial. This feature can be found in the Cutting Edge Warbond and Superstore.

Discussing armor, there’s also the BP-20 Correct Officer and BP-32 Jackboot – these are sets of medium and light armor respectively, each equipped with a novel Ballistic Padding feature. This trait lessens damage from chest shots, explosions, and bleeding, which might seem a bit unimpressive at first. However, the significant enhancement Masters of Ceremony’s Reinforced Epaulettes perk received upon release suggests that Arrowhead may enhance its effectiveness if it feels underpowered in-game.

In contrast to the underwhelming Masters of Ceremony from last month, Force of Law is undeniably a significant improvement, and a Warbond that I’m excited to invest my Super Credits in. What surprises me is its imminent release, considering that monthly Warbonds were more frequent last year, but lately, they have been spaced two or three months apart.

It remains uncertain if Arrowhead is resuming its regular monthly updates or if this is just a special occasion. However, my main concern is that Warbonds turns out to be high-quality. While I wouldn’t object to receiving new Helldivers 2 content every month, I prefer to see quality additions less frequently over the alternative.

Helldivers 2 holds a prominent position among the top-tier PC and PS5 games, particularly if you’re fond of cooperative shooters, high-octane sci-fi action, amusing physics stunts, and witty satire. Normally priced at $40, you can usually find it cheaper with some bargain hunting. Currently, the most advantageous deal is offered by CDKeys, which reduces the price by almost $12, making it possible to purchase this explosive game for approximately $28.
