Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps Sets Ticket Pre-Sale Record for 2025

Tickets for the upcoming Marvel Studios film, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, went on sale on Wednesday (June 4), and it seems that the “Fab Four” are already proving to be a popular choice. According to Fandango, the leading online ticket retailer in the U.S., more tickets for this movie were sold in its first day than any other film released this year.

The Fantastic Four movie outperformed films like A Minecraft Movie, the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Captain America: Brave New World, and Thunderbolts in terms of first-day ticket sales on Fandango in 2025. This news comes two weeks after it was announced that Disney’s Lilo & Stitch had broken records for advance ticket sales at the same stage of the sales cycle, becoming both the best PG-rated pre-seller and top pre-seller of the year so far.

The initial Marvel film featuring the Fantastic Four surpassed the first-day box office sales of both How to Train Your Dragon (which started ticket pre-orders on May 1) and Jurassic World Rebirth (tickets for which became available on May 20, before its July 2 release), while DC Studios’ Superman movie (releasing on July 11) has not yet made tickets available.

2024 saw Deadpool & Wolverine outperform Dune: Part Two in Fandango’s pre-sales, eventually earning $1.33 billion worldwide and placing as the second highest-grossing film of the year, trailing only Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out 2.

Despite not sharing the precise number of early tickets sold, it’s known that Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour Concert Film have placed in Fandango’s top 10 list of movies and events with the highest first-day ticket presales.

2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for movies! As a movie enthusiast, I eagerly await the release of the top 10 most anticipated films as voted by over 9,000 ticket buyers in Fandango’s poll. Topping the list is Captain America: Brave New World, a title that has me on the edge of my seat. Following closely behind are Mission: Impossible 8, Jurassic World Rebirth, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Wicked: For Good, The Accountant 2, Superman, and F1: The Movie. These titles promise to deliver a cinematic experience that I can’t wait to be a part of!

In March, Fandango asked moviegoers to identify the top 10 summer movies of 2025 they were eagerly awaiting, and “Jurassic World Rebirth” was voted number one. This was followed by “Fantastic Four: First Steps”, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”, “Superman”, “Thunderbolts”, “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina”, “28 Years Later”, “How to Train Your Dragon”, “Lilo & Stitch”, and “Freakier Friday”. Pedro Pascal, who portrays Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in “First Steps”, came in second place for the most-anticipated new acting performance in 2025, trailing behind Scarlett Johansson from “Rebirth”.

Amidst a colorful, futuristic setting reminiscent of the 1960s, the story of The Fantastic Four: First Steps unfolds, presenting Marvel’s initial family, consisting of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). This dynamic group confronts their toughest challenge to date. They struggle to uphold their heroic duties while maintaining the power of their family ties. Their mission is to protect Earth from a voracious cosmic deity named Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his mysterious emissary, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). The threat posed by Galactus’ intention to consume our planet and everyone on it becomes even more dire when it turns highly personal.

Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens only in theaters on July 25.
