After experiencing a rough and glitchy debut, STALKER 2 aims to regain its momentum in the year 2025. The upcoming patch, version 1.5, is scheduled for release this month, bringing a suite of repairs and tweaks alongside fresh content.

Developers GSC Game World announced through their official Discord channel that the update is planned for a release in the latter part of June.

The upcoming update will bring about two fresh weapons, a feature to plunder mutants, and enhancements in A-Life. Initially, players found issues with A-Life, the game’s AI living and interaction system, during the game’s launch, with some even believing it was missing entirely. This aspect was one of the key criticisms of the initial release.

What Can We Expect From STALKER 2 This Summer?

In simpler terms, the developers’ Q2 Plan includes features like bypassing shader compilation, expanding the stash window, and adding wide-screen compatibility. Notably, they are working on a major update for the STALKER Original Trilogy in high definition.

Among numerous gamers expressing their views on the latest news through Reddit, a common theme seems to be dissatisfaction. It appears that many players are voicing concerns about the excessive durability of mutants in the game, finding it challenging to defeat them. However, so far, the developers have not indicated any plans for adjusting or weakening specific mutants.

For those familiar with STALKER from the old days, it’s designed to be challenging, particularly when dealing with mutants. Frankly, I don’t find much benefit in plundering mutants – the real prize isn’t collectibles or souvenirs, but simply staying alive. Nevertheless, I’m eager for the upcoming update and curious about all the enhancements it will bring to the game.
