Miss Grand International’s Rachel Gupta Steps Down, Alleges Harassment

Rachel Gupta has taken off her crown for the last time.

2024’s Miss Grand International, the woman who clinched the title in October, revealed her decision to relinquish her position because she experienced unfair treatment and harassment from the Miss Grand International Public Company Limited (MGI), the body organizing the Thai beauty contest.

For the past seven months while working with Miss Grand International, Mr. Gupta stated in a May 28 YouTube video that he had been persistently subjected to harassment, manipulation, disregard, and being left on my own.

Alongside her claims of being coerced to sign an unfair contract and experiencing a lack of essential facilities, the 21-year-old further asserted that upon winning, she was placed in a confined hotel room where her suitcases wouldn’t open fully due to limited space.

Afterward, Gupta claimed that she put on extra pounds due to consuming takeout meals, as there was no cooking equipment available in the accommodation given by MGI. Later, she stated that the organization made fun of her because of her weight increase.

Gupta explained in the video that people were persistently criticizing his weight and physical appearance. At one point, a representative approached him, pinching different parts of his body, suggesting areas where he needed to lose weight. He felt incredibly humiliated by this experience, as it made him feel tiny and awful.

Eventually, the pageant winner chose to give up her crown following statements indicating that she was stranded in Thailand without proper safety measures, unable to go back to her residence in India. She also expressed feelings of being neglected by MGI during her stay there, particularly after an alleged $1000 was reported missing.

She acknowledged, in that instant, that these individuals would never back her up. In essence, it seemed they were indifferent towards her life or death. As far as their concern was concerned, she merely existed to attend their functions with a smile on her face and maintain the physique they preferred, regardless of whether she lived or died.

A short while following Gupta’s video release, MGI declared on Instagram that they had rescinded her title. Subsequently, they denied the accusations she made.

Regarding the unfounded, inaccurate, and damaging statements made by Ms. Rachel Gupta, a former Miss Grand International 2024, Miss Grand International Public Company Limited (MGI) offers this official rebuttal. As stated in a release shared with People on June 5th, the contentious video published on May 28th, 2025, presents a skewed account of events and intentionally misrepresents the contractual ties between MGI and Ms. Gupta. The statements are largely based on emotional appeals and dramatic storytelling rather than concrete evidence to substantiate her allegations.

Apart from underscoring that all of Gupta’s statements, such as accusations against MGI’s COO, were entirely dismissed by the organization, they also expressed their admiration for the beauty pageant.

In simpler terms, the statement means that MGI does not tolerate any attempts to discredit its executives through personal attacks or spreading misleading stories, as these actions could harm both their reputation and that of the company.

TopMob News has reached out to Gupta and MGI for comment and has not heard back.

The following day, Shannen asserted during a panel discussion at MegaCon Orlando, “I am not witnessing any distortion of truth in the story I shared.

Shannen passed away in July 2024 after a yearslong battle with cancer.

In September 2023, while engaged in a game called Stir the Pot on TopMob News with her daughter Kelly Osbourne, Sharon commented that the alum of That ’70s Show was the most rude celebrity she had ever encountered. She labeled him as “incredibly rude” not once but four times and referred to him as a “mischievous little troublemaker.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

She responded negatively, expressing her belief that the Great American Family will maintain traditional marriage as its central focus.

JoJo, who publicly identified as part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, expressed on Instagram that the actress’ remark was “unpleasant and painful to an entire group of individuals.
