In my perspective, approaching Harrison Ford with an unconventional project idea, such as “Shrinking,” would undeniably be a daunting task. Yet, that was exactly what Brett Goldstein had to accomplish when pitching the “Indiana Jones” actor for the Apple TV+ show. Interestingly enough, Ford claimed that Goldstein’s pitch didn’t fall flat – instead, it left an impressive impact. But don’t let this statement mislead you; it wasn’t due to any shortcomings in the pitch, quite the contrary, it was because the pitch was incredibly effective.
If you’re a fan of “Shrinking”, you may know that Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence offered the role of Paul to Harrison Ford, thinking he would decline. At this point, the actor from “Ted Lasso” was tasked with presenting the series to the “Star Wars” star. However, according to Ford, a pitch wasn’t needed as he stated during a panel shared by reelrejects on TikTok: he had already agreed to join the show without needing to be persuaded.
Originally, he was expected to enter where I was working in London, and his purpose for visiting my apartment was to convince me of something specific. However, when he arrived at the door, instead of effectively persuading me as planned, he failed miserably. When I asked him how he liked it, I expressed my desire to do it, but he seemed taken aback and responded with uncertainty about what we should do next.
It seems Goldstein missed the opportunity as Harrison Ford was keen on taking up the series himself. Isn’t that quite astonishing?
As a passionate film enthusiast, I must say that the narrative truly shone when the Emmy-winning talent enriched the plot with background details. He confided that he had meticulously planned an entire game script, but all of it crumbled almost instantly upon opening his now fellow actor’s front door.

When they presented him with the pilot script, Ford allegedly inquired whether he’d receive more screen time than initially planned. Bill Lawrence stated that if he took on the role, of course, he would grant him more screen time.
