From the moment Loki made his debut in “One Piece”, fans have been engrossed in a never-ending discussion about whether he’d ultimately side with us or against us. The Elbaf Arc initially painted him as quite the villain, seemingly our main adversary for the arc. However, with no significant antagonist emerging, Loki seemed to be the most likely candidate. But things have taken a drastic turn with the arrival of the Holy Knights and, most significantly, Imu. Imu’s entrance has completely shifted the balance against the Giants. It now seems more plausible than ever that Loki might join our ranks. Interestingly enough, one of Imu’s recently unveiled abilities could potentially clear Loki of his most heinous transgression.
In chapter 1150, Imu (who’s currently in Gunko’s body) employs an enigmatic power known as Domi Reversi to transform the Giants into creatures resembling demons with bat-like wings, elongated fangs, and horns. This transformation gives him full command over Dorry and Brogy, prompting them to attack Jarul and claim the throne of Elbaf for themselves. This power could potentially explain why Loki ended up slaying his father, King Harald, as there’s a possibility that Harald was also turned into a demon under Imu’s control.
King Harald May Have Been Turned Into a Demon by Imu
To date, it appears that Harald’s murder holds more secrets than initially perceived within One Piece. To begin with, only Jarul and Loki himself are alive and privy to the events that transpired in Aurust Castle 14 years ago. As per Road’s revelation to the Straw Hats, the Giants believe Loki killed their father due to a powerful devil fruit that was part of the royal lineage. However, when challenged by Hajruddin in Chapter 1143, Loki expresses doubt about whether Hajruddin genuinely believes he cold-bloodedly murdered their shared parent, as is commonly held among the Elbaf people.
Although it’s challenging to decide whether the abyss pentagram in Aurust Castle’s throne room emerged with Gunko and Shamrock’s arrival on Elbaf or was already there, it’s certainly intriguing that the pentagram manifested exactly where Loki and Harald fought 14 years ago. This lends credence to the theory that the Holy Knights might have transported to Elbaf before, under Imu’s influence, and transformed Harald into a demon to seize control of Elbaf in a similar fashion.
One Piece Has Dropped Many Hints That Harald Was Being Controlled
A strong indication that Harald might have transformed into a demon could be the presence of claws under his cape, which seem to resemble wings when they appear on either side of his shoulders. However, it’s also significant to note that these protrusions were visible in Loki’s recollection in Chapter 1143. Additionally, Harald is said to have plucked out his horns at a later point, but there’s speculation that Imu may have taken control of him long ago. In a desperate bid to free himself from the spell cast by Imu, it’s possible that Harald briefly regained control of his body to pull out his horns.
As I ponder upon Imu’s remarkable power, Domi Reversi, often translated as “returning home,” it seems to be uncovering the vestiges of ancient Giant lineage within a person. This could potentially explain Harald’s firm rejection of the brutal customs linked with his ancestral Giant heritage, which he referred to as remnants of a war-torn epoch.
Moreover, it’s intriguing to note that in Chapter 1137, Luffy stumbled upon a colossal horned skull in Aurust Castle, one that was nearly the size of Oars. Upon seeing this, Road suggested that the skull likely belonged to someone with rare Ancient Giant blood, and interestingly used King Harald as an example, stating that he was larger and stronger than most Giants.
In summary, it seems King Harald could possibly have been transformed into a demon. Jarul likely has the answers to confirm this theory, which might explain why he was willing to destroy Elbaf’s educational institutions instead of allowing history to repeat itself. If this is true, Loki, who defeated and killed Harald, might hold crucial information for defeating the Holy Knights and demons that were once Giants, making Loki an invaluable asset for the future events of One Piece.
